Lung-cancer screening with chest computerized tomography (CT) is not easy to introduce in low-medium resource countries due to cost issues. We investigated whether the increasing availability of chest CT exams in Brazil, in spite of no lung-cancer screening protocol, was associated with lung-cancer death rate along 10-year follow-up. We performed regressions to estimate the rate ratio between chest CT exams and lung-cancer deaths per 10 inhabitants. We stratified data per municipality. Regressions were adjusted for physicians and hospital beds per 10 inhabitants and per capita gross domestic product. Increasing availability of chest CT exams predicted decreasing lung-cancer death rate.

Aim: To study the prognostic significance of hematologic indices: neutrophils/lymphocytes (N/L), platelets/lymphocytes (P/L) and lymphocytes/C-reactive protein (L/CRP) in relation to the complicated course of new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), as well as their correlation with COVID-19 course severity indices and endothelial dysfunction marker sVCAM-1.

Materials And Methods: 103 patients with new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were included in the study. Based on the data of multispiral computed tomography (CT) of the chest organs, all patients were divided into 3 groups: CT group 1 - 30 patients, CT group 2 - 62 patients and CT group 3 - 11 patients.

Background: Microcardia and cardiomegaly are good diagnostic and prognostic tools for several diseases. This study investigated the distribution of microcardia and cardiomegaly among students of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ghana to determine the prevalence of microcardia and cardiomegaly across gender, and to evaluate the correlation between the presence of these heart conditions and age.

Methods: This retrospective study involved a review of 4519 postero-anterior (PA) chest X-rays (CXRs) between 2020 and 2023.

Transgender individuals commonly feel significant distress and discomfort, termed gender dysphoria, as a result of the discrepancy between their gender assigned at birth and their gender identity. A major source of gender dysphoria stems from distinct anatomical differences between the male and female chest. Gender-affirming mastectomy of transmasculine patients and breast augmentation for chest feminization of transfeminine patients, also referred to as top surgery, are often the first surgical interventions and most commonly pursued physical modifications for the treatment of gender dysphoria among this patient population.
