In order to remarkably enhance the absorption capability of (CHNH)PbI, a tunable narrow-band (CHNH)PbI-based perfect absorber based on the critical coupling with guided resonance is proposed. By using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulations, a complete absorption peak is achieved at the wavelength of 1310 nm. Moreover, we have compared the simulation results with theoretical calculations, which agree well with each other. By changing related structural parameters, the wavelength of absorption peak can be tuned effectively. Furthermore, the proposed absorber can tolerate a relatively wide range of incident angles and demonstrate polarization-independence. In addition to (CHNH)PbI, the complete optical absorption in the other halide perovskites can be realized by the same mechanism.

Background: Tinnitus is a major health issue, but currently no tinnitus elimination treatments exist for chronic subjective tinnitus. Acoustic therapy, especially personalized acoustic therapy, plays an increasingly important role in tinnitus treatment. With the application of smartphones, personalized acoustic stimulation combined with smartphone apps will be more conducive to the individualized treatment and management of patients with tinnitus.

Background: This study aims to assess the relationships between sphenoid sinus (SS) types, septation, lobulation, symmetry, septal deviation, and the variations in SS pneumatization regarding the surrounding neurovascular structures using Computed tomography (CT) images. Sexes and age groups were investigated.

Material And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated head CT-scans of 320 patients (age range 18-49 years); mean of 43.

December 2024

Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, University of Chicago Medical Center, Chicago, IL, USA.

Purpose: To identify clinical features which may predict the angle status of a large cohort of NVG eyes at the time of diagnosis.

Observations: Chart review was performed for all NVG eyes from 2010 to 2022. Complete angle closure was defined as having >75 % PAS, partial angle closure as having 1-75 % PAS, and open angles as having 0 % PAS.

Purpose: To report a case of corneoscleral juvenile xanthogranuloma (JXG) with progressive anterior segment involvement refractory to topical steroids.

Observations: A 4-month-old male was referred for a new-onset subconjunctival lesion in the right eye. He was found to have a thickened, yellow corneoscleral lesion and hyphema, presumed to be ocular JXG.

Vasovagal syncope (VVS) in donors is a transient loss of consciousness due to short-term global cerebral hypoperfusion, which has a rapid onset and has complete spontaneous recovery. VVS may be triggered by pain, fear, anxiety, or emotional upset and loss of blood perse. It is an exaggeration of an adaptive response meant to assist in reducing the amount of bleeding/loss of blood.
