The COVID-19 pandemic has required health systems to change much faster than normal. Many staff have experienced training in quality improvement and patient safety methods which can be used to support the design of new systems and to accelerate learning about new and adapted practices. This article sets out the principles of quality improvement and patient safety science, applying them in a selection of approaches, methods and tools, which may be useful in crisis situations such as the current pandemic. The article also makes reference to several resources which may be of use to those keen to advance their knowledge.

Hydrogen internal combustion engines offer a near-term decarbonisation pathway for hard to electrify sectors such as non-road mobile machinery (NRMM). However, few hydrogen-specific engines have ever been developed with the twin-goals of maximising low carbon energy efficiency and delivering air quality co-benefits. We present analyses of dynamometer-derived nitrogen oxides (NO) tailpipe emissions from four variants of a ∼55 kW four-cylinder port fuelled injection spark ignition hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2ICE) suitable for a range of uses within the NRMM industry.

Optic nerve disorders significantly contribute to visual impairment with irreversible visual deficits. Current treatments have limited efficacy in resolving chronic visual deficits, necessitating novel therapeutic strategies. Neurorehabilitation techniques, including repetitive transorbital alternating current stimulation (rtACS), have emerged as promising approaches to restore lost visual function through the ability to modulate brain activity.

Model calculations and computer simulations can be used to optimize the resource allocation in potato breeding programs but require quantitative genetic parameters. The objectives of our study are to (i) estimate quantitative genetic parameters of the most important phenotypic traits in potato breeding programs, (ii) compare the importance of inter- vs.

Seeking effective improvement agent control measures to enhance the photosynthetic physiological traits and yield levels of spring maize is crucial for efficient green agriculture in arid regions. Therefore, this study was conducted to clarify the effects of coupling improvement agents under magnetoelectric activated water irrigation conditions on the photosynthetic physiological traits, grain nutrients, and yield of spring maize in the arid region of northwest China. Field experiments were set up with three concentrations of growth regulators: 400 times (G1), 500 times (G2), and 600 times (G3), and three amounts of : 15 kg/ha (R1), 45 kg/ha (R2), and 75 kg/ha (R3), along with a control group CK, making a total of 10 treatments applied in the field experiment.
