Background: Streptococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome (STSS) is a life-threatening condition caused by bacterial toxins. The STSS triad encompasses high fever, hypotensive shock, and a "sunburn-like" rash with desquamation. STSS, like Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS), is a rare complication of streptococcal infec-tions caused by Group A Streptococcus (GAS), Streptococcal pyogenes (S.

Despite being designated as "noncarcinogenic" human papillomavirus (HPV) types, mono-infection with HPV6 or HPV11 has been found in squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) at specific sites, including the larynx, penis, anus, and rarely, the lower female genital tract. The association between clinicopathologic features, viral status, and the carcinogenic mechanisms related to these low-risk HPVs remains unclear. The current study characterizes a series of low-risk HPV6 and HPV11-associated SCCs of the uterine cervix (6 cases) and vulva (2 cases).

A 75-year-old woman with a history of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) presented with isolate ocular symptoms, including a left scleral hematoma, elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and C-reactive protein (CRP). Initial evaluation combined with isolated ocular symptoms raised concerns for giant cell arteritis rather than an SLE flare. Thus, prompt initiation of high-dose intravenous methylprednisolone (250 mg every six hours) was warranted.

MDA5+ DM, or anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 antibody-positive dermatomyositis (DM), is a rare autoimmune illness that primarily affects women of Asian origin. The typical presentation of MDA5+ DM includes a variety of cutaneous lesions accompanied by either no muscular weakness (amyopathic) or hypomyopathic features. In patients with MDA5+ DM, rapid progression of interstitial lung disease is a frequent manifestation associated with poor prognosis.

HIV-1 Vif's principal function is to counter the antiretroviral activities of DNA-editing APOBEC3 cytidine deaminases. Unconstrained APOBEC3 activity introduces premature stop codons in HIV-1 genes and can lead to viral inactivation. To investigate the evolution and diversification of Vif over the HIV-1 pandemic and document evidence of APOBEC3-mediated pressure, we analyzed 4612 publicly available sequences derived from 10 dominant subtypes and circulating recombinant forms (CRFs) using the Hervé platform.
