A gold-catalyzed tandem spiroketalization of epoxyalkynes accompanied by epoxide rearrangement into the corresponding allylic alcohol was developed for the construction of functionalized spiroketals. This new synthetic methodology for unsaturated spiroketals warranted a facile total synthesis of alotaketal A from carvone via a corresponding epoxyalkyne precursor.

Functionalized Polyethylene Separators with Efficient Li-Ion Transport Rate for Fast-Charging Li-Ion Batteries.

Fast-charging lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are the key to solving the range anxiety of electric vehicles. However, the lack of separators with high Li transportation rates has become a major bottleneck, restricting their development. In this work, the electrochemical performance of traditional polyethylene separators was enhanced by coating AlO nanoparticles with a novel green binder.

Background: Previously, Japanese Environmental Mutagen and Genome Society/Mammalian Mutagenicity Study Group/Toxicogenomics Study Group (JEMS/MMS toxicogenomic study group) proposed 12 genotoxic marker genes (Aen, Bax, Btg2, Ccnf, Ccng1, Cdkn1a, Gdf15, Lrp1, Mbd1, Phlda3, Plk2, and Tubb4b) to discriminate genotoxic hepatocarcinogens (GTHCs) from non-genotoxic hepatocarcinogens (NGTHCs) and non-genotoxic non-hepatocarcinogens (NGTNHCs) in mouse and rat liver using qPCR and RNA-Seq and confirmed in public rat toxicogenomics data, Open TG-GATEs, by principal component analysis (PCA). On the other hand, the U.S.

Stereoselective Synthesis of (±)-Tetraponerine-2 and -4 via the Gold(I)-Catalyzed Intramolecular Dehydrative Amination of Allylic Alcohols.

The concise and efficient total synthesis of (±)-tetraponerine-2 () and (±)-tetraponerine-4 () was achieved in 9% and 14% overall yield, respectively. The key step included the diastereoselective gold(I)-catalyzed intramolecular dehydrative amination of an allylic alcohol-tethered sulfamide to produce the 1,3-diamine moiety. The resulting olefinic side chain was then elaborated by cross-metathesis and cyclized to a five-membered pyrrolidine or a six-membered piperidine ring by intramolecular Mitsunobu -alkylation.

The first catalytic enantioselective intramolecular allylic dearomatization of allylic alcohol tethered α- and β-naphthols has been developed with iridium/acid-dual catalysis. A wide range of polycyclic spiroketones containing vicinal tertiary and quaternary carbon stereocenters were readily prepared in good to high yields with high diastereo- and moderate to excellent enantioselectivities. An unusual anti-Markovnikov Wacker oxidation has also been shown in synthetic transformations.

The acetosolv extraction, allylation and subsequent cross-linking of wheat straw lignin to thermoset biomaterials is herein described. The extraction temperature proved to be of great importance for the quality of the resulting lignin, with moderate temperature being key for preservation of β-O-4' linkages. The allylation of the acetosolv lignin was carried out using three different synthetic strategies, resulting in selective installation of either benzylic or phenolic allyl ethers, or unselective allylation of various hydroxyl groups via etherification and carboxyallylation.
