Several studies, reviews and meta-analyses have documented that D-mannose use lowers the risk of recurrent urinary tract infections (UTI), but its role in the treatment of UTI/cystitis-related symptoms is unclear. In particular, no systematic review has analyzed the role of treatment with D-mannose in acute UTI/cystitis. In this paper, we systematically reviewed the published data on the effect of D-mannose, alone or in association with other compounds, on the typical symptoms of UTI/cystitis.

Background: Pudendal nerve entrapment can produce a pudendal syndrome comprising perineodynia together with urinary, sexual, and anorectal symptoms. This syndrome can be treated surgically by the transperineal approach. By using an endoscope during the procedure ("operative pudendoscopy"), the surgeon has close-up visual control of each decompression steps, demonstrates the different levels of entrapment, and cuts the sacrospinous ligament under visual control.

Introduction: This study retrospectively reviewed the value of alcohol injection of sacral nerve roots after a lidocaine test in two indications: detrusor instability-detrusor hyperactivity syndrome and cystalgia.
Material And Methods: Single-centre retrospective study from January 1992 to March 2003. Twenty-eight patients (1 man, 27 women) were admitted to the urology department for lidocaine test injection because of detrusor hyperactivity 24 cases (idiopathic = 13, neurological = 11), and cystalgia in another 4 cases.
