Determining burn bed availability from the start of a disaster is critical to emergency response efforts, yet continues to be one of the most elusive aspects for planners to anticipate. Healthcare providers agree that, over time, burn centers (BCs) can and will move patients, activate staff, and bring in supplies to meet surge needs. The real challenge lies in identifying how many beds will be immediately available to handle any initial surge of patients.

Mental health supported accommodation services are implemented across England, usually organised into a 'step-down' care pathway that requires the individual to repeatedly move as they gain skills and confidence for more independent living. There have been no trials comparing the effectiveness of different types of supported accommodation, but two widely used models (supported housing and floating outreach) have been found to provide similar support. We aimed to assess the feasibility of conducting a large-scale trial comparing these two models.

Medium secure forensic psychiatric units are unique environments within the broader 'post asylum' landscape of mental health services. Length of stay is much greater, a recovery-focused care system is much more difficult to implement, and there is a paucity of suitable "step-down" services. The aim of this study was to examine how forensic psychiatric environments contribute to the shaping of recovery, by examining key features such as social interactions and agency.
