Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Radiol Technol

Published: May 2020

Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is projected to become a staple in breast imaging. It is considered ideal for younger women and women with dense breasts whose mammography findings typically are inconclusive because of large amounts of fibroglandular tissue. Because of its high resolution and ability to incorporate intravenous contrast media, MR also is useful for differentiating between benign and malignant breast lesions. However, breast MR imaging is not suited for every patient or every situation. This article reviews breast anatomy, MR imaging basics, the indications for breast MR imaging, and patient care considerations.

Background: Dermatomyositis is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting muscles and skin, often associated with an increased risk of cancer. Specific autoantibodies, including anti-TIF1 (Transcription Intermediary Factor 1), have been linked to this risk. We present a case of dermatomyositis in a male patient positive for anti-TIF1 antibodies, subsequently diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsil, a novel association not previously documented.

Purpose: Hereditary breast and ovarian cancers (HBOC) carry a high risk of breast cancer, and detailed screening with contrast-enhanced breast MRI (breast MRI surveillance) is recommended. With the increase in the number of individuals diagnosed with HBOC, the demand for breast MRI surveillance is also rising. However, the current system is inadequate, with factors such as lack of knowledge and indifference among healthcare professionals, and insufficient understanding of breast MRI surveillance being cited.

Introduction: The successful diagnosis and treatment of early-stage breast cancer enhances the quality of life of patients. As a promising alternative to recently developed magnetic resonance imaging-guided radiotherapy, we proposed fluorescence molecular imaging-guided photodynamic therapy (FMI-guided PDT), which requires no expensive equipment. In the FMI simulations, ICG-C11 which has emission peaks at near-infrared wavelengths was used as the FMI agent.

Breast cancer is one of the most aggressive types of cancer, and its early diagnosis is crucial for reducing mortality rates and ensuring timely treatment. Computer-aided diagnosis systems provide automated mammography image processing, interpretation, and grading. However, since the currently existing methods suffer from such issues as overfitting, lack of adaptability, and dependence on massive annotated datasets, the present work introduces a hybrid approach to enhance breast cancer classification accuracy.
