Published: May 2020

A novel Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, non-motile actinobacterium, designated strain E2A, was isolated from a coral sample and examined using a polyphasic taxonomic approach. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain E2A formed a distinct phyletic lineage in the genus and was closely related to CCTCC AA 2012022 (96.4 %) and CCTCC AA 2010012 (95.3 %). The isolate grew at 15-35 °C, pH 5-12 and in the presence of 1-16 % (w/v) NaCl. The cell-wall diamino acid was -DAP. Major fatty acids identified were -C, -C and C ω8c. The predominant menaquinone was MK-9(H). The polar lipids detected were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylmethylethanolamine, one unidentified glycolipid, one unidentified phospholipid and one unidentified aminolipid. The genomic DNA G+C content was 68.6 mol%. Based on the data from the polyphasic taxonomic study reported here, strain E2A represents a novel species within the genus , for which the name sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is E2A=(JCM 31844=MCCC 1A17150).

A conditional smoothened (smo) allele on an inbred C57BL/6J genetic background has a hypomorphic smo mutant phenotype.

We have introduced the floxed allele of Smoothened (Smo) carried by the mouse line Smo into the C57BL/6J strain by serial backcross. Recapitulation of the Smo null phenotype was confirmed by deleting the allele using E2a-cre and intercrossing heterozygous Smo ± mice. No homozygous mutant embryos were identified at E9.

The social amoeba Dictyostelium discoideum is a model for a wide range of biological processes including chemotaxis, cell-cell communication, phagocytosis, and development. Interrogating these processes with modern genetic tools often requires the expression of multiple transgenes. While it is possible to transfect multiple transcriptional units, the use of separate promoters and terminators for each gene leads to large plasmid sizes and possible interference between units.

The relationship between myocardial microstructure and strain in chronic infarction using cardiovascular magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging and feature tracking.

Biomedical Imaging Sciences Department, Leeds Institute for Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine, University of Leeds, Leeds, UK.

Background: Cardiac diffusion tensor imaging (cDTI) using cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is a novel technique for the non-invasive assessment of myocardial microstructure. Previous studies have shown myocardial infarction to result in loss of sheetlet angularity, derived by reduced secondary eigenvector (E2A) and reduction in subendocardial cardiomyocytes, evidenced by loss of myocytes with right-handed orientation (RHM) on helix angle (HA) maps. Myocardial strain assessed using feature tracking-CMR (FT-CMR) is a sensitive marker of sub-clinical myocardial dysfunction.

Cell type-specific gene expression is driven by the interplay between lineage-specific transcription factors and cis-regulatory elements to which they bind. Adaptive immunity relies on RAG-mediated assembly of T cell receptor () and immunoglobulin () genes. Although and expression is largely restricted to adaptive lymphoid lineage cells, it remains unclear how gene expression is regulated in a cell lineage-specific manner.
