Setor de Patologia Veterinária, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

Southern right whales (Eubalaena australis) are mysticete cetaceans commonly observed in the coastal waters of Brazil, particularly in Santa Catarina State. There is limited understanding of the causes of calf mortality in this species, particularly concerning infectious diseases. We report a case of omphalophlebitis caused by Streptococcus equi subsp.

Background: Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma (LIHC) is a prevalent and aggressive liver cancer with limited therapeutic options. Identifying key genes involved in LIHC can enhance our understanding of its molecular mechanisms and aid in the development of targeted therapies. This study aims to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and key hub genes in LIHC using bioinformatics approaches and experimental validation.

Background: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) is a treatment modality that exposes patients to 100% oxygen at higher atmospheric pressures. Recently, HBO has emerged as a potential therapeutic option for various liver diseases, offering advantages such as improved tissue oxygenation, anti-inflammatory effects, enhanced wound healing, and potential hepatoprotective properties. Understanding the benefits of HBO in liver diseases can pave the way for novel therapeutic strategies and improved patient outcomes.

The dysregulation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM) represents a critical aspect of tumorigenesis. In this study, we investigated the diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic aspects of the MMPs in SKCM. Thirteen SKCM cell lines and seven normal skin cell lines were cultured under standard conditions for experimental analyses.

Competitive signaling and cellular communications in myocardial infarction response.

Mol Biol Rep

January 2025

Department of Translational Research, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona, CA, 91766-1854, USA.

Cell communication and competition pathways are malleable to Myocardial Infarction (MI). Key signals, transcriptive regulators, and metabolites associated with apoptotic responses such as Myc, mTOR, and p53 are important players in the myocardium. The individual state of cardiomyocytes, fibroblasts, and macrophages in the heart tissue are adaptable in times of stress.
