The status of the Second Law of Thermodynamics, even in the 21st century, is not as certain as when Arthur Eddington wrote about it a hundred years ago. It is not only about the truth of this law, but rather about its strict and exhaustive formulation. The concept of 'resilience' is pervasive, permeating academic disciplines and political discourses. This paper considers (i) the construal of 'resilience' in the contexts of food insecurity and cost-of-living in governmental discourses in the United Kingdom (UK); (ii) to what extent the political representations are reflected in research funding calls of UK national funding bodies, thus showing possibility of shaping research agendas; and (iii) to what extent official uses of 'resilience' reflect lay understandings. We are combining a corpus-based discourse analysis of UK governmental discourses and research funding calls with a study of focus group discussions.

Background: As a result of a common misunderstanding of the concepts of generalization, discrimination and prejudice, their methodological significance for a scientific psychiatry gets out of sight.
Aim: An attempt to rehabilitate these concepts METHOD: An explorative consideration based on actual trends in society and mental health care RESULTS: Examples are given of the one-sided framing of these concepts in society and psychiatric practice as well as of their positive contribution to a better understanding of psychiatric problems, to better diagnostics and, as a result, psychiatry as a scientific discipline.
Conclusion: It remains necessary to take a critical look at one’s own bias in the form of generalization, discrimination and prejudices.

The occurrence of cracked tooth is closely related to the abnormal occlusal force. The cracks existing on hard tissue of tooth cannot be self-limiting. As long as the external force exists, the cracks would continue to expand, involving the pulp, periapical, and periodontal tissues, ultimately leading to splitting and tooth loss.
