Type C hepatic encephalopathy (type C HE) is increasingly suspected in children with chronic liver disease (CLD), and believed to underlie long-term neurocognitive difficulties. The molecular underpinnings of type C HE in both adults and children are incompletely understood. In the present study we combined the experimental advantages of in vivo high field H magnetic resonance spectroscopy with immunohistochemistry to follow longitudinally over 8 weeks the neurometabolic changes in the hippocampus of animals having undergone bile duct ligation as pups. Rats who develop CLD early in life displayed pronounced neurometabolic changes in the hippocampus characterized by a progressive increase in glutamine concentration which correlated with plasma ammonia levels and a rapid decrease in brain myo-inositol. Other neurometabolic findings included a decrease in other organic osmolytes (taurine, choline-containing compounds and creatine), ascorbate and glutamate. At the cellular level, we observed an increase in glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and aquaporin 4 (AQP4) expression in the hippocampus at 4 weeks post bile duct ligation (BDL), together with astrocytic morphological alterations. These findings differ from observations in the brain of adult rats following BDL, and are in keeping with the commonly accepted theory of age-dependent vulnerability.

The increasing prevalence of Alzheimer's disease (AD) calls for a comprehensive exploration of its complex etiology, with a focus on sex-specific vulnerability, particularly the heightened susceptibility observed in postmenopausal women. Neurometabolic alterations during the endocrine transition emerge as early indicators of AD pathology, including reduced glucose metabolism and increased amyloid-beta (Aβ) deposition. The fluctuating endocrine environment, marked by declining estradiol levels and reduced estrogen receptor beta (ERβ) activity, further exacerbates this process.

Objective: Analysis of the effectiveness of the use of the drug Cytoflavin and the organization of the activities of nursing staff, within the framework of nursing care, in the complex therapy of patients with spinal cord injury (PSMT).
Material And Methods: Material and methods. 40 patients with PSMT due to a gunshot wound were examined, who were divided into two equal groups depending on the type of therapy performed: group 1 patients received the full volume of stage I medical rehabilitation (with additional use of neurodevelopmental techniques under the supervision of a Bobata department nurse) and standard drug therapy, including a course of intravenous Cytoflavin infusions followed by tablet form; group 2 patients received the full volume of stage I medical rehabilitation and standard drug therapy, but did not receive Cytoflavin.

Background: The clinical characteristics of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adolescents show notable gender-related differences, but the cause of these differences is still not understood. The current research concentrates on the changes in neurometabolism and neuroendocrine function, aiming to identify differences in endocrine function and brain metabolism between male and female adolescents with MDD.
Methods: A total of 121 teenagers diagnosed with MDD (43 males and 78 females) were enlisted as participants.
Cerebral glucose metabolism (CMRGlc) systematically decreases with advancing age. We sought to identify correlates of decreased CMRGlc in the spectral properties of fMRI signals imaged in the task-free state. We analyzed lifespan resting-state fMRI data acquired in 455 healthy adults (ages 18-87 years) and cerebral metabolic data acquired in a separate cohort of 94 healthy adults (ages 25-45 years, 65-85 years).
