Distribution of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in non-neoplastic and adenomatous human pituitaries was analyzed by immunohistochemistry, in situ, and Northern hybridization analyses. Basic FGF protein and mRNA were present in most hormone-producing cells of the non-neoplastic pituitary and in all pituitary adenomas examined. Northern hybridization analysis revealed 7.3 kb and 3.7 kb transcripts, which were most abundant in PRL-and ACTH-secreting adenomas. Three null cell and 3 gonadotroph adenomas were cultured for 7 days in the presence of 10 mol/L GnRH. There was an increase (range, 0.4-1.8-fold based on mean grain counts after in situ hybridization) in bFGF in most adenomas (5 of 6). Northern analysis showed an increase in the 7.3-kb transcript in a null-cell adenoma. Chromogranin B mRNA was also increased by Northern analysis in the same neoplasm. These results indicate that bFGF protein and mRNA are widely distributed in non-neoplastic and adenomatous human pituitaries and that the mRNA levels of bFGF in null cell and gonadotroph adenomas can be modulated by GnRH, implicating hypothalamic peptides in regulating bFGF in the anterior pituitary.

Objective: TRIB3 has been confirmed to participate in and regulate biological metabolic activities in head and neck tumors such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma and oropharyngeal carcinoma, so the purpose of this study was to explore whether there is a correlation between TRIB3 and Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (LSCC) and to preliminarily explore the biological characteristics of TRIB3 in LSCC.

Methods: TRIB3 expression in the LSCC was analyzed based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. CCK-8 assay, Colony Formation Assay, wound healing assay, and Transwell assay were performed to investigate the roles of TRIB3 in the proliferation, invasion and metastasis of LSCC.

Delayed fracture healing (DFH), a common complication of post-fracture surgery, exhibits an incompletely understood pathogenesis. The present study endeavors to investigate the roles and underlying mechanisms of miR-656-3p and Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 (BMP-2) in DFH. It was recruited 94 patients with normal fracture healing (NFH) and 88 patients with DFH of the femoral neck.

Objective: Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) is a highly complex disease with high morbidity and mortality. Studying the molecular mechanism of MIRI and discovering new targets are crucial for the future treatment of MIRI.

Methods: We constructed the MIRI rat model and hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) injury cardiomyocytes model.

Nowadays, intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is the main cause of death and disability, and motor impairment is a common sequel to ICH. Electroacupuncture (EA) has been widely used for functional recovery after ICH. However, its role and associated regulatory mechanisms in rehabilitation after ICH remain poorly understood.

Resveratrol, a natural polyphenol, has shown promising neuroprotective effects in several in vivo and in vitro experimental models. However, the mechanisms by which resveratrol mediates these effects are not fully understood. Glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain; however, excessive extracellular glutamate levels can affect neural activity in several neurological diseases.
