has emerged as an important pathogen related to serious infections and nosocomial outbreaks around the world. In this study, 100 isolates of carbapenem-resistance in (CRAB) were collected from clinical specimens. Agar dilution was conducted to determine the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) for 15 kinds of antibiotics. Genes of carbapenemases and efflux pumps were amplified by PCR. The expression difference of pump genes was analyzed by real-time PCR between CRAB and carbapenems-sensitive (CSAB). We found that most antibiotics, including aminoglycosides, fluoroquinolones, and cephalosporins showed high MIC values in CRAB. All isolates were sensitive to polymyxin B. Among the CRAB specimens, 54, 32 and 16 isolates were positive for SHV-12, PER-1 and TEM-1, respectively. 86 isolates were positive for OXA-23. 55 and 33 isolates carried adeB and adeJ genes, respectively. The expression level of adeB in CRAB was ten times higher than that in CSAB. We speculate that SHV-12, PER-1, TEM-1, OXA-23 and the AdeABC efflux pump may participate in high-level carbapenems resistance in Moreover, adeE may be related to low-level resistance of carbapenems and quinolones in .

Introduction The antimicrobial resistance of is variable and is influenced by both geographic location and regional antibiotic use. The overuse of antibiotics, especially in hospitalised patients, suppresses the growth and persistence of drug-resistant bacteria. This study aimed to detect the prevalence of carbapenem-resistant and the genes responsible for the resistance.

The increasing antibiotic resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, responsible for both community-acquired and hospital-acquired infections, is of global significance. The primary mechanisms contributing to resistance development in P.aeruginosa include the increased activity of efflux pumps, decreased permeability of outer membrane porins and the production of carbapenemases.

Carbapenemase producing (CPEs) represent a group of multidrug resistant pathogens for which few, if any, therapeutics options remain available. CPEs generally harbor plasmids that encode resistance to last resort carbapenems and many other antibiotics. We previously performed a high throughput screen to identify compounds that can disrupt the maintenance and replication of resistance conferring plasmids through use of a synthetic screening plasmid introduced into K-12 cells.

Aztreonam-avibactam (ATM-AVI) is a promising β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor combination with an antimicrobial spectrum covering serine carbapenemase- or metallo-β-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales. Although ATM-AVI has not been widely used in clinical practice, resistance to it in Escherichia coli has been widely reported. In this study, we investigated an ATM-AVI-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae strain, designated as 1705R, derived from K.

Carbapenem antibiotics are widely used for their broad antibacterial effects, but the emergence of carbapenem-resistant has recently become a global problem. To solve this problem, research is needed to find compounds that increase antibiotic activity. Therefore, this study aimed to validate the antibacterial and anti-biofilm effects, as well as the inhibition of gene expression of thymoquinone, an extract of commonly used as a spice in many dishes.
