: In March 2020, overall, 37,000 international students from China, a country at risk of the 2019-novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection has arrived in Seoul, South Korea. Individuals from the country at risk of COVID-19 infection have been included in the Korean home-quarantine program, but the efficacy of the program is uncertain. : To estimate the possible number of infected individuals within the large influx of international students from China, we used a deterministic compartmental model for epidemic and performed a simulation-based search of different rates of compliance with home-quarantine. : Under the home-quarantine program, the number of the infected individuals would reach 40-72 from 12 March-24 March with the arrival of 0.2% of pre-infectious individuals. Furthermore, the number of isolated individuals would peak at 40-64 from 13 March-27 March in Seoul, South Korea. Our findings indicated when incoming international students showed strict compliance with quarantine, epidemics by the international student from China were less likely to occur in Seoul, South Korea. : To mitigate possible epidemics, additional efforts to improve the compliance of home-quarantine of the individuals from countries with the virus risk are warranted along with other containment policies.

Anthropogenic inputs of nitrogen and phosphorus to lakes have increased worldwide, causing phytoplankton chlorophyll concentrations to increase at many sites, with negative implications for biodiversity and human usage of lake resources. However, the conversion of nutrients to chlorophyll varies among lakes, hindering effective management actions to improve water quality. Here, using a rich global dataset, we explore how the relationship between chlorophyll-a (Chla) and nitrogen and phosphorus and inferred nutrient limitation is modified by climate, catchment, hydrology and lake characteristics.

Background: In this population-based cohort study involving a nationwide database from South Korea, we aimed to determine whether rapid response system (RRS) implementation is associated with mortality and morbidity after surgery under general anesthesia.
Methods: Patients who underwent surgery under general anesthesia at the hospital between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2021. Patients admitted to hospitals with an RRS were categorized into the RRS group, whereas those without an RRS were categorized into the non-RRS group.

Background: Coronary angiography (CAG) and targeted temperature management (TTM) may improve clinical outcomes after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. This study aimed to assess whether the intervention effects differed according to timing and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) performance.
Methods And Results: Adult patients with presumed cardiac cause who underwent CAG and TTM within 24 hours following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest were included from the Korean nationwide out-of-hospital cardiac arrest registry.

Antimony sulfide (SbS) is a promising candidate as an absorber layer for single-junction solar cells and the top subcell in tandem solar cells. However, the power conversion efficiency of SbS-based solar cells has remained stagnant over the past decade, largely due to trap-assisted nonradiative recombination. Here we assess the trap-limited conversion efficiency of SbS by investigating nonradiative carrier capture rates for intrinsic point defects using first-principles calculations and Sah-Shockley statistics.

Background: Limited data exist on problematic sexual behaviour (PSB) in youth with developmental disabilities in South Korea.
Method: Sixty-one parents of children with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (aged 13-30) reported children's PSB and emotional, behavioural, cognitive, and interpersonal factors. The frequency of PSB in children with developmental disabilities was verified, and various factors' effects on PSB were examined through multiple linear regression analysis.
