Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that begins early in life and continues lifelong with strong personal and societal implications. It affects about 1%-2% of the children population in the world. The absence of auxiliary methods that can complement the clinical evaluation of ASD increases the probability of false identification of the disorder, especially in the case of very young children. In this study, analytical models for auxiliary diagnosis of ASD in children and adolescents, based on the analysis of patients' blood serum ATR-FTIR (Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier Transform Infrared) spectra, were developed. The models use chemometrics (either Principal Component Analysis (PCA) or Partial Least Squares Discriminant Analysis (PLS-DA)) methods, with the infrared spectra being the -predictor variables. The two developed models exhibit excellent classification performance for samples of ASD individuals vs. healthy controls. Interestingly, the simplest, unsupervised PCA-based model results to have a global performance identical to the more demanding, supervised (PLS-DA)-based model. The developed PCA-based model thus appears as the more economical alternative one for use in the clinical environment. Hierarchical clustering analysis performed on the full set of samples was also successful in discriminating the two groups.

In this study, the AlFeO@n-Pr@Et-SOH heterogeneous catalyst was successfully synthesized and utilized to produce biodiesel from oleic acid through an esterification process and to oxidize sulfides. To examine the physicochemical characteristics of the AlFeO@n-Pr@Et-SOH nanomaterial, a variety of advanced techniques were employed, including Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), Elemental Mapping, Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Inductively coupled plasma (ICP), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The AlFeO@n-Pr@Et-SOH materials demonstrated excellent performance in both the esterification of oleic acid and the oxidation of sulfides.

Objectives: Drug-loaded mucoadhesive silk fibroin (SF) microneedle patch can overcome the limitations of low bioavailability and significant pain associated with traditional treatment methods, such as topical application or injection of triamcinolone for oral submucous fibrosis (OSF). However, these systems release the drug too quickly, failing to meet the clinical requirements. This study aims to construct a mucoadhesive SF microneedle patch pre-assembled with silk fibroin nanospheres (SFN) and explore its ability to sustain the release of triamcinolone in the treatment of OSF.

The degradation of rubber seal (RS), particularly ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM), in the drinking water networks has been confirmed, yet the role of RS as a disinfection by-product (DBP) precursor remains unknown. This study provides explicit proof of the formation of halogenated disinfection by-products (X-DBPs) from RS in chlorinated drinking water within water supply systems. Over time, exposure to chlorinated water ages RS, releasing high levels of organic compounds, which act as DBP precursors.

Microwave-assisted extraction of pectin from Dillenia indica (DI) fruit was optimized using Box-Behnken design to maximize yield and quality. Parameters such as solid:solvent (1:10-1:30), microwave power (200-600 W), and extraction time (4-10 min) were varied to determine the optimal conditions. Through experimentation, the optimized extraction parameters were identified as 1:23.

Postharvest fruit decay caused by pathogens is an important factor leading to product waste and economic losses, and fruit coating is considered an effective strategy to solve this problem due to its simple operation and effectiveness. In this study, nano modified chitosan film (CSC) was created by mixing chitosan (CS) and copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) synthesized using abandoned Ficus carica fruit. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra indicated the formation of intermolecular interactions between CS and CuO NPs in the composite film.
