Budget-aware local influence iterative algorithm for efficient influence maximization in social networks.

Heliyon

November 2024

Département d'Analytique, Opérations et Technologies de l'Information, Université de Québec à Montreal, 315, Sainte-Catherine Street East, H2X 3X2, Montreal, Canada.

The budgeted influence maximization (BIM) problem aims to identify a set of seed nodes that adhere to predefined budget constraints within a specified network structure and cost model. However, it is difficult for the existing algorithms to achieve a balance between timeliness and effectiveness. To address this challenge, our study initially proposes a refined cost model through empirical scrutiny of Weibo's quote data.

A cortical field theory - dynamics and symmetries.

J Comput Neurosci

November 2024

The Wellcome Centre for Human Neuroimaging, Queen Square Institute of Neurology, University College London, London, UK.

We characterise cortical dynamics using partial differential equations (PDEs), analysing various connectivity patterns within the cortical sheet. This exploration yields diverse dynamics, encompassing wave equations and limit cycle activity. We presume balanced equations between excitatory and inhibitory neuronal units, reflecting the ubiquitous oscillatory patterns observed in electrophysiological measurements.

Climate change represents an urgent global threat. Without action, rising temperatures resulting from human activity will increasingly affect our health and wellbeing through changing patterns of disease, extreme weather events and availability of resources. Expedient decarbonisation of the UK economy is an ambitious goal to which we must all contribute.

Obesity is an established risk factor for numerous malignancies, although it remains uncertain whether the disease itself or weight-loss drugs are responsible for a greater predisposition to cancer. The objective of the current study was to determine the impact of dulaglutide on genetic and epigenetic DNA damage caused by obesity, which is a crucial factor in the development of cancer. Mice were administered a low-fat or high-fat diet for 12 weeks, followed by a 5-week treatment with dulaglutide.

Injectable thermogel constructed from self-assembled polyurethane micelle networks for 3D cell culture and wound treatment.

Injectable hydrogels have attracted significant interest in the biomedical field due to their minimal invasiveness and accommodation of intricate scenes. Herein, we developed an injectable polyurethane-based thermogel platform by modulating the hydrophilic-hydrophobic balance of the segmented components with pendant PEG. The thermogelling behavior is achieved by a combination of the bridging from the hydrophilic PEG and the percolated network from the hydrophobic micelle core.
