Background Up to 15% of patients with cholelithiasis have choledocholithiasis, with almost 10% not detected pre-operatively. Our study aims to quantify the prevalence of incidental choledocholithiasis during routine intra-operative cholangiogram (IOC), identify the best management pathway, and identify reliable pre-operative factors to predict choledocholithiasis. Methods We conducted a single-centre, retrospective cohort study at St John of God Midland Hospital in Western Australia, Perth, on 880 consecutive patients who underwent cholecystectomies performed by 15 surgeons between January 2, 2020, and December 30, 2021.

Introduction: The aim of this paper was to report the experience of one-stage LC and LCBDE service within a medium sized acute NHS healthcare trust to demonstrate the feasibility of this treatment modality in terms of safety, quality and effectiveness inside the limitations of the UK's nationalised healthcare system.
Methods: All patients undergoing LCBDE at our institution from November 2013 - July 2021 were included in the study. Data were collected from a prospectively maintained institutional database and data points corroborated by electronic patient data on hospital systems.

Background: Recent data have suggested that upfront cholecystectomy should be performed even in the presence of moderately abnormal liver function tests (LFTs). As a consequence, more common bile duct (CBD) stones are discovered on intra-operative cholangiogram. We assessed the presentation and management of such patients to refine their management plan.

Patients with symptomatic gallstones present common bile duct stones in approximately 10% of cases. It is possible to resolve both gallbladder and bile duct stones with a single procedure. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of a single stage procedure for gallbladder and bile duct stones in the elderly patients and to expose the differences between the various techniques.
