Objectives: Drug-loaded mucoadhesive silk fibroin (SF) microneedle patch can overcome the limitations of low bioavailability and significant pain associated with traditional treatment methods, such as topical application or injection of triamcinolone for oral submucous fibrosis (OSF). However, these systems release the drug too quickly, failing to meet the clinical requirements. This study aims to construct a mucoadhesive SF microneedle patch pre-assembled with silk fibroin nanospheres (SFN) and explore its ability to sustain the release of triamcinolone in the treatment of OSF.

Head trauma from blast exposure is a growing health concern, particularly among active military personnel, and is considered the signature injury of the Gulf War. However, it remains elusive whether fundamental differences exist between blast-related traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and TBI due to other mechanisms. To elucidate the effect of transglutaminase (TG) on the rheological properties of wheat gluten, this study investigates the underlying mechanisms by analyzing changes in gluten structure. The results demonstrated that the TG-treated gluten samples had higher storage modulus (G') and loss modulus (G″) compared to the control, conversely, creep and recovery strains followed an opposite trend. Notably, the most pronounced effects were observed with adding 2 U/g TG for 20-30 min.

Research on metasurface sensors with high sensitivity, strong specificity, good biocompatibility and strong integration is the key to promote the application of terahertz waves in the field of biomedical detection. However, traditional metallic terahertz metasurfaces have shortcomings such as poor biocompatibility and large ohmic loss in the terahertz frequency band, impeding their further application and integration in the field of biosensing detection. Here, we overcome this challenge by proposing a high-performance terahertz metasurface based on gold nanoparticles and single-walled carbon nanotubes composite film.
