Diarrhetic shellfish toxins (DSTs) are widespread in marine environments, posing potential threats to marine ecosystems, shellfish aquaculture, and human health. Despite their prevalence, knowledge of the stability of dissolved DSTs in seawater is still limited. This study aimed to investigate the effects of bacteria, temperature, and irradiation on the stability of dissolved okadaic acid (OA) and dinophysistoxin-1 (DTX1) in seawater.

UV-Resistant Nanostructured Anti-reflective Film for Achieving Efficiency Enhancement of Perovskite Solar Cells and Potential of Fabricating Large-Scale Cu(In, Ga)Se Solar Cells.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

Sticker-type transparent antireflective film (STAF) is applied to perovskite solar cells (PSCs) to reduce the reflection and improve the light-trapping ability of PSCs. However, the development of STAF is hindered by many factors, such as expensive materials, low actual service life, unsatisfactory antireflective effect, and a lack of research on stability. This work proposes an ultraviolet (UV)-resistant enhanced sticker-type nanostructure acrylic resin antireflective film (SNAAF), which is applied to the incident surface of PSCs.

Molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensor to sensitively detect tetramethylpyrazine in Baijiu.

Tetramethylpyrazine (TMP) is a compound known for its natural health benefits, but current detection methods for TMP are overly expensive and time-consuming. In this study, we developed functional materials with TMP molecular recognition properties using molecularly imprinted technology. As TMP does not produce electrochemical signals in the detection potential range, hexacyanoferrate was selected as a redox probe, combined with the highly conductive polymer PEDOT:PSS to enhance electrode conductivity.

In recent years, carbon dots (CDs) with fluorescence imaging function have been widely used in biomedicine, electronic manufacturing and environmental monitoring. However, monochromatic fluorescence is often limited by the application environment and loses its effectiveness. Here, we carefully designed white fluorescent CDs (WF-CDs) by solvothermal method, which is used for fluorescence imaging applications under different environmental conditions.

Effects of UVC doses on the removal of antimicrobial resistance elements from secondary treated sewage.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

January 2025

Programa de Pós-Graduação Em Saneamento, Meio Ambiente E Recursos Hídricos, Departamento de Engenharia Sanitária E Ambiental, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Av. Antonio Carlos 6627, Belo Horizonte, MG, 31270-901, Brazil.

Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) currently face major challenges toward the removal of microcontaminants and/or microbial matrices and consequently play an important role in the potential dissemination of biological resistance in freshwater. The ultraviolet (UV) system is a tertiary treatment strategy increasingly applied worldwide, although many studies have shown that disinfected effluent can still contain antibiotic-resistant bacteria and resistance genes. Therefore, to better understand the effects of UV radiation doses on the removal of all resistance elements (antibiotics, antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and antibiotic resistance genes), the present study was designed using a pilot-scale photoreactor.
