120 adult outpatients with endoscopically proven duodenal ulcer were randomly allocated to three groups of 40, treated in a double-blind manner with cimetidine 400 mg twice daily, trimoprostil 3 mg twice daily and trimoprostil 3 mg at bedtime. Trimoprostil was administered as a slow release formulation. Healing rates after 4 weeks were 78, 74 and 58%, respectively, the difference being not significant (p = 0.12). Similarly there was no significant difference regarding subjective symptoms, side effects and biochemical analysis. Healed patients were followed at bimonthly intervals for 6 months. The relapse rates were 71, 59 and 61% for patients initially treated with cimetidine, trimoprostil 6 or 3 mg, respectively, a difference not statistically significant.

Supramolecular oleogels, in which low-molecular weight oleogelators self-assemble into various nanostructures through non-covalent interactions, have witnessed increasing research activity in various fields of science, including food, cosmetics or remediation of marine oil spills. Herein, we report a simple scalable and environmentally friendly carbohydrate-based oleogelator, namely, the sodium salt of ,'-dimethyl β- glucosyl barbiturate (GlcBMe) that self-assembles through sonication to induce the gelation of polar organic solvent and later of non-polar vegetable oils by cationic exchange with quaternary ammonium surfactants. Water-soluble GlcBMe was capable of forming self-assembled fibrillar network bridging insoluble particles in the oil by sonication in the presence of a small amount of water.

Frostbite injury refers to cold tissue injury which typically affects the peripheral areas of the body, and is associated with limb loss and high rates of morbidity. Historically, treatment options have been limited to supportive care, leading to suboptimal outcomes for affected patients. The pathophysiology of frostbite injury has been understood in recent years to share similarity with that of cold ischemia-reperfusion injury as seen in solid organ transplantation, of which mitochondria play an important contributing role.

Microplastic contamination of low-density polyethylene mulch and nutrient loss from fertilizers present significant challenges in the crop-growing.
