Objective: To co-design artificial intelligence (AI)-based clinical informatics workflows to routinely analyse patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) in hospitals.
Methods: The context was public hospitals (n=114) and health services (n=16) in a large state in Australia serving a population of ~5 million. We conducted a participatory action research study with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, managers, data analysts, consumer representatives and industry professionals (n=16) across three phases: (1) defining the problem, (2) current workflow and co-designing a future workflow and (3) developing proof-of-concept AI-based workflows.

Background: Burn mass casualty incidents can overwhelm local resources, challenging effective communication, triage, and provision of care. International responders can help by providing education and direct patient care.
Local Problem: On November 5, 2021, a fuel tanker truck exploded in Freetown, Sierra Leone, killing or injuring hundreds of people.
Aging Ment Health

Department of Psychiatry, Jewish General Hospital/Lady Davis Institute, McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada.
Objectives: Older Canadian adults make up 85% of hospital stays which are associated with increased loneliness, stress, anxiety, and/or depression. There is a need for novel approaches to reduce loneliness and mental health outcomes in older adult hospital inpatients to prevent further strain on an already overwhelmed healthcare system.
Methods: This is a pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) exploring the efficacy of a bedside multimodal interaction system, myHealthHub, on loneliness, quality of life (QOL), patient engagement, and other mental health outcomes compared to an active control group in older adult inpatients ( = 60) from baseline to 5-days.

Background: Alarms alert healthcare professionals of deviations from normal/physiologic status. However, alarm fatigue may occur when their high pitch and diversity overwhelm clinicians, possibly leading to alarms being disabled, paused, and/or ignored. We aimed to determine whether a staff educational program on customizing alarm settings of bedside monitors may decrease inconsistent alarms in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).

Importance: The COVID-19 pandemic caused large disruptions to health care for hospitalized older adults. The incidence and management of delirium may have been affected by high rates of COVID-19 infection, staffing shortages, overwhelmed hospital capacity, and changes to visitor policies.
Objective: To measure changes in rates of delirium and related medication prescribing during the COVID-19 pandemic among hospitalized older adults.
