Aerial manipulators can manipulate objects while flying, allowing them to perform tasks in dangerous or inaccessible areas. Advanced aerial manipulation systems are often based on rigid-link mechanisms, but the balance between dexterity and payload capacity limits their broader application. Combining unmanned aerial vehicles with continuum manipulators emerges as a solution to this trade-off, but these systems face challenges with large actuation systems and unstable control.

Pulmonary function in swimmers exposed to disinfection by-products: a narrative review.

Front Physiol

January 2025

Department of Sport Medicine and Traumatology, Poznan Univeristy of Physical Education, Poznań, Poland.

Swimming produces many psychophysiological effects, including blood, hormonal, enzymatic, pulmonary, cardiovascular and energetic adaptations. However, asthma and allergies are becoming increasingly prevalent medical issues among elite endurance-trained swimmers, where exercise-induced asthma or bronchospasm is frequently reported. Heavy endurance swimming training, especially under adverse conditions, stresses the airway mucosa, leading to inflammatory changes, as observed in induced sputum in competitive swimmers.

Despite extensive research on motivation in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) settings, demotivation within medical education remains underexplored. This mixed-method study employs the Situated Expectancy-Value Theory (SEVT) to investigate the demotivation of English learning experienced by 426 Chinese medical students in their English language learning. Utilising data collected from the adapted English learning demotivation questionnaire, quantitative analysis was conducted through exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and correlation analysis.

Background: The study of women exposures and child outcomes occurring in the first 1,000 days of life since conception enhances understanding of the relationships between environmental factors, epigenetic changes, and disease development, extending beyond childhood and spanning the entire lifespan. Generation Gemelli is a recently launched case-control study that enrolls mother-newborns pairs in one of the largest university hospitals in Italy, in order to examine the association between maternal environmental exposures and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and the risk of premature birth. The study will also evaluate the association of maternal exposures and the health and growth of infants and children up to 24 months of age.
