Two new -configuration based Zn(II) coordination polymers with formula [Zn(L)(2,2'-bipy)₂] (1) and [Zn₂(L)₂(4,4'-bipy)] (2) (H₂L = 4,4'-{[1,2-phenylenebis-(methylene)]bis(oxy)}dibenzoic acid, 2,2'-bipy= 2,2'-bipyridine and 4,4'-bipy= 4,4'-bipyridine) have been synthesized and characterized. Both the compounds had been used as possible luminescent sensors for detecting nitroaromatic compounds (NACs) and as photocatalysts to photodegrade methyl violet (MV) under UV irradiation. The sensing experiments indicated that 2 displayed selective sensing for m-nitrophenol (MNP) with lower limit of detection (LOD) of 1.14 ppm while photocatalytic experiments indicated that 1 displayed better photocatalytic performance than 2 in photodegrading MV.

While the highest-performing memristors currently available offer superior storage density and energy efficiency, their large-scale integration is hindered by the random distribution of filaments and nonuniform resistive switching in memory cells. Here, we demonstrate the self-organized synthesis of a type of two-dimensional protonic coordination polymers with high crystallinity and porosity. Hydrogen-bond networks containing proton carriers along its nanochannels enable uniform resistive switching down to the subnanoscale range.

Orthogonal self-assembly represents a useful methodology to construct supramolecular polymers with AA- and AB-type monomers, as commonly used for covalently linked polymers. So far, the design of such monomers has relied heavily on three-dimensional macrocycles, and the use of two-dimensional shape-persistent macrocycles for this purpose remains rather rare. Here, we demonstrate a dimerization motif based on a hydrogen-bonded macrocycle that can be effectively applied to form orthogonal supramolecular polymers.

Energy crisis and environmental pollution are two central themes of contemporary research towards achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs). Material chemistry is the chief discipline that can resolve glitches in these areas through the appropriate design of chemical compounds with multifunctional properties. In this regard, two stable coordination polymers (CPs) were synthesised in this work using Zn(II) (3d) and Cd(II) (d) metal nodes with 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate () as the bridging ligand and monodentate pyridyl-N coordinated 9-fluoren-2-yl-pyridin-4-ylmethylene-amine (flpy) as the fluorogenic partner.

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) immunosensors are highly promising tools for monitoring biochemical molecules. Constructing high-performance heterojunctions is a general method to improve the sensitivity of PEC immunosensors. The internal electric field (IEF) formed at the heterojunction interface plays a crucial role in coordinating the separation of photogenerated carriers.
