Background: The scarcity of resources and caregiving services, a higher prevalence of health conditions, and financial concerns in rural areas in the United States have been well-documented. However, less research has compared experiences between caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) in rural versus urban areas. This study sought to address this gap by identifying those unmet service needs, explore factors associated with service use, and propose tailored strategies for better serving the needs of both rural and urban caregivers.

The challenge of preventing gastric cancer in patients under surveillance for familial adenomatous polyposis.

Fam Cancer

January 2025

Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Amsterdam UMC, University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam Gastroenterology Endocrinology Metabolism, Cancer Center Amsterdam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Several extra-colonic manifestations, including duodenal polyposis and desmoid tumors, are well-described manifestations in familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). More recently, an increase in gastric cancer diagnoses has been observed in FAP. This case series presents nine patients with FAP who were diagnosed with gastric cancer at our FAP expertise center, of whom eight were diagnosed between 2017 and 2023, while before 2017 the only diagnosis of gastric cancer was in 2001.

Background: In the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), nurses care for premature and critically ill neonates, interact with parents, and make clinical decisions regarding the treatment of neonates in life-threatening conditions. The challenges of managing unstable conditions and resuscitation decisions can cause moral distress in nurses.

Purpose: This study aims to determine the relationship between clinical decision-making and moral distress in NICU nurses.

Conventional floating bridge systems used during emergency repairs, such as during wartime or after natural disasters, typically rely on passive rubber bearings or semi-active control systems. These methods often limit traffic speed, stability, and safety under dynamic conditions, including varying vehicle loads and fluctuating water levels. To address these challenges, this study proposes a novel Hydraulic Self-Adaptive Bearing System (HABS).

Delivery of Prime editing in human stem cells using pseudoviral NanoScribes particles.

Nat Commun

January 2025

CIRI, Centre International de Recherche en Infectiologie Univ Lyon, Inserm, U1111, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, CNRS, UMR5308, ENS de Lyon, F-69007, Lyon, France.

Prime Editing can rewrite genes in living cells by allowing point mutations, deletions, or insertion of small DNA sequences with high precision. However, its safe and efficient delivery into human stem cells remains a technical challenge. In this report, we engineer Nanoscribes, virus-like particles that encapsidate ribonucleoprotein complexes of the Prime Editing system and allow their delivery into recipient cells.
