In this paper, we study the strain transfer mechanism between a host material and an optical fiber. A new analytical model handling imperfect bonding between layers is proposed. A general expression of the crack-induced strain transfer from fractured concrete material to optical fiber is established in the case of a multilayer system. This new strain transfer model is examined through performing wedge splitting tests on concrete specimens instrumented with embedded and surface-mounted fiber optic cables. The experimental results showed the validity of the crack-induced strain expression fitted to the distributed strains measured using an Optical Backscattering Reflectometry (OBR) system. As a result, precise estimations of the crack openings next to the optical cable location were achieved, as well as the monitoring of the optical cable response through following the strain lag parameter.

Introduction: Phage WO represents the sole bacteriophage identified to infect , exerting a range of impacts on the ecological dynamics and evolutionary trajectories of its host. Given the extensive prevalence of across various species, phage WO is likely among the most prolific phage lineages within arthropod populations. To examine the diversity and evolutionary dynamics of phage WO, we conducted a screening for the presence of phage WO in -infected cricket species from China.

Ceftazidime-avibactam (CZA) is currently one of the last resorts used to treat infections caused by carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. However, KPC variants have become the main mechanism mediating CZA resistance in KPC-producing gram-negative bacteria after increasing the application of CZA. Our previous study revealed that CZA-resistant KPC-33 had emerged in carbapenem-resistant P.

Mycobacterium abscessus complex (MABSC) comprises a group of environmental microorganisms, which are a concerning cause of opportunistic respiratory infections in patients with cystic fibrosis or bronchiectasis. Only 45.6% of MABSC treatments are successful, and therefore this is a need to discover new antimicrobials that can treat these pathogens.

Janus graft copolymers, which combine the characteristics of block and graft copolymers, have been used in the fields of reaction catalysis, surface modification, and drug delivery, but their applications in lithium batteries have rarely been reported. Herein, Janus graft copolymers with polyethylene glycol (PEG) and polystyrene (PS) side chains are synthesized by combining reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) methods and doped with lithium salts to fabricate Janus bottlebrush polymer electrolytes (PEG-J-PS). The PEG side chains of the brush polymers impart good ion-conducting properties to the electrolytes, while the PS side chains improve the mechanical strength and thermal and chemical stability of the electrolytes.

Objective: To investigate the physiological characteristics of subspecies (Bti) with double mutations of and genes and to assess the activity of Bti against larvae of under different external factors, so as to provide the theoretical evidence for the use of engineered bacteria of Bti for effective mosquito control.
Methods: wild-type strain Bt-59 and Bt-59 strain with mutation [Bt-59 (Δ)] were cultured in nutrient broth media for 24 hours, and Bt-59 strains with mutation [Bt-59 (Δ)] and double mutations of and [Bt-59 (Δ)] were cultured in nutrient broth media for 48 hours. Then, 5 μL of culture media were transferred to glass sides, and cell morphology and mother cell lysis were observed under an optical microscope.
