AI Article Synopsis

  • The covid-19 pandemic has created significant complications for healthcare systems globally, particularly in intensive care and anesthesiology.
  • Protecting healthcare workers from infection is essential for effective critical care treatment, necessitating clear guidance on preventive measures and treatment strategies.
  • This review aims to compile and summarize valuable knowledge and insights from past experiences to aid in addressing these challenges.

Article Abstract

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, healthcare systems face growing challenges all around the world nowadays. These challenges are the most critical in the field of intensive treatment and anesthesiology. One of the most important prerequisites of effective critical care treatment is preserving the involved healthcare workers from the infection, by providing them with detailed practical advices on the preventive measures and treatment strategies. The aim of the present review is to summarize the most important related knowledge available from previous experiences. Orv Hetil. 2020; 161(17): 652–659.

Adapting biological systems for nanoparticle synthesis opens an orthogonal Green direction in nanoscience by reducing the reliance on harsh chemicals and energy-intensive procedures. This study addresses the challenge of efficient catalyst preparation for organic synthesis, focusing on the rapid formation of palladium (Pd) nanoparticles using bacterial cells as a renewable and eco-friendly support. The preparation of catalytically active nanoparticles on the bacterium VKM B-3302 represents a more suitable approach to increase the reaction efficiency due to its resistance to metal salts.

Background: The emergence of novel SARS-CoV-2 variants challenges immunity, particularly among immunocompromised kidney transplant recipients (KTRs). To address this, vaccines have been adjusted to circulating variants. Despite intensive vaccination efforts, SARS-CoV-2 infections surged among KTRs during the Omicron wave, enabling a direct comparison of variant-specific immunity following-vaccination against Omicron BA.

In recent years, significant breakthroughs have been made in cancer therapy, particularly with the development of molecular targeted therapies and immunotherapies, owing to advances in tumor molecular biology and molecular immunology. High-grade gliomas (HGGs), characterized by their high malignancy, remain challenging to treat despite standard treatment regimens, including surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and tumor treating fields (TTF). These therapies provide limited efficacy, highlighting the need for novel treatment strategies.

Background: The treatment of status epilepticus (SE) in children with cardiac disease is challenging given their often-tenuous hemodynamic state. We aim to determine whether ketamine is safe and effective in children with cardiac disease as the first-line continuous infusion for the treatment of refractory SE (RSE) and to compare ketamine to midazolam for the treatment of RSE in this population.

Methods: This is a single-center retrospective cohort study of pediatric patients with cardiac disease and RSE admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit at a tertiary children's hospital between January 1, 2017 and June 30, 2023.

Urological diseases and their varied forms of management warrant special attention in the setting of climate change. Regarding urological cancers, climate change will probably increase the incidence and severity of cancer diagnoses through exposures to certain environmental risk factors, while simultaneously disrupting cancer care delivery and downstream outcomes. Regarding benign urological diseases, a burgeoning body of work exists on climate-related heat waves, dehydration, urolithiasis, renal injury and infectious and vector-borne diseases.
