Isolated trapezoid fractures have been rarely reported in the literature and are occult on routine radiography. Previously described cases have utilized computed tomography (CT) to make this diagnosis; however, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is better for soft tissue evaluation and can detect fractures which may be occult on CT. We report 4 cases of isolated trapezoid fractures diagnosed by MRI in 4 males after remote trauma, ages ranging from 19 to 62. In each case, initial work-up with radiography, and one case with CT, was negative for a fracture but an MRI was ultimately obtained due to high clinical suspicion, resulting in the diagnosis of an isolated trapezoid fracture. Based on literature review, these are the first cases of isolated trapezoid fracture diagnosed by MRI. MRI offers several advantages over CT and is more valuable in cases of suspected occult fracture, given the ability to evaluate soft tissue and ligamentous injuries.

Magnetic compression anastomosis (MCA) for esophageal stenosis requires the insertion of magnets through two channels, transoral and transgastrostomy. Herein, we designed a Y-Z deformable self-assembled magnetic anastomosis ring (Y-Z DSAMAR) for esophageal stricture anastomosis through the transoral passage only. We introduce a Y-Z DSAMAR and verify its feasibility for single-access esophageal stenosis anastomosis in isolated organs.

In this contribution, we address quantum transport in long periodic arrays whose basic cells, localized potentials U(x), display certain particular features. We investigate under which conditions these "local" special characteristics can influence the tunneling behavior through the full structure. As the building blocks, we consider two types of U(x)s: combinations of either Pöschl-Teller, U0/cosh2[αx], potentials (for which the reflection and transmission coefficients are known analytically) or Gaussian-shaped potentials.

Background: Often secondary to obesity, adult-acquired buried penis (AABP) is an increasingly common condition. AABP is often detrimental to urinary and sexual function, psychological well-being, and quality of life. Surgical treatment involves resection of excess soft tissue, with adjunct procedures, including a panniculectomy.

Background: Talocalcaneal (TC) coalitions typically present in the pediatric population with medial hindfoot and/or ankle pain and absent subtalar range of motion. Coalition resection with fat interposition is well described for isolated tarsal coalitions; however, patients with concomitant rigid flatfoot may benefit from additional reconstructive procedures. To address this, we employ the surgical technique of TC resection with local fat grafting and flatfoot reconstruction.
