Several challenges have been identified for patients with concurrent disorders and the providers that care for them, contributing to a pressing need for interventions to improve outcomes, particularly within inpatient mental health settings. A systematic search of peer-reviewed literature was conducted using four online databases: CINAHL, MEDLINE (Ovid), PsycInfo and Web of Science. Articles were selected based on inclusion criteria and additional articles were identified through hand searches. Study details were charted and qualitative synthesis was conducted. Thirty two articles met inclusion criteria. A substantial focus within the literature was education, with higher levels of education shown to improve healthcare provider attitudes and practices. Within this overarching focus, four themes were identified: 1) education as an intervention to improve attitudes and increase confidence and knowledge; 2) strategies to support practice change, including interventions aimed at clinical leaders and methods to address substance use among inpatients; 3) frameworks to guide care; and 4) opportunities to expand nursing scope of practice. Given the substantial evidence indicating that education improves nurses' knowledge, attitudes and practices, there is great promise in expanding educational intervention opportunities for nurses to improve care and outcomes for patients with concurrent disorders-a priority patient population.

Background: While concomitant opioid and benzodiazepine use is discouraged due to an increased risk of sedation/overdose, the extent of perioperative opioid utilization in hand surgery patients already using benzodiazepines is unknown.
Methods: Using an administrative claims database, we identified adults undergoing carpal tunnel, DeQuervain, or trigger finger release, palmar fasciectomies, ganglion/mucoid cyst removals, and hand/wrist soft tissue mass excisions from 2011 to 2021. We identified opioid-naive patients with a benzodiazepine prescription within 90 days before surgery.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the service quality in Iranian hospitals from patients' perspectives based on the SERVQUAL model.
Materials And Methods: A thorough exploration of online electronic databases, including Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, IranMedex, and the Scientific Information Database (SID), was undertaken using keywords extracted from Medical Subject Headings such as "Quality of Health Care," "Hospital," and "Patients" spanning from the earliest available records up to August 11, 2023.
Results: In the context of 25 cross-sectional studies encompassing a collective participant pool of 8021 hospitalized patients in Iranian medical facilities, an assessment of patients' perspectives on the quality of hospital services revealed a mean perception score of 3.

Introduction: In patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome, mechanical ventilation often leads to ventilation-induced lung injury (VILI), which is attributed to unphysiological lung strain (UPLS) in respiratory dynamics. Platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1), a transmembrane receptor, senses mechanical signals. The Src/STAT3 pathway plays a crucial role in the mechanotransduction network, concurrently triggering pyroptosis related inflammatory responses.
