Expansion Culture of Hair Follicle Stem Cells through Uniform Aggregation in Microwell Array Devices.

ACS Biomater Sci Eng

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores a method for hair regeneration using hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) and dermal papilla cells to treat alopecia, addressing the challenge of growing these cells while preserving their ability to induce hair growth.
  • A new microwell array device was developed to grow HFSCs, leading to a significant 20-fold increase in cell numbers over two weeks and enhanced expression of hair-related genes compared to traditional growth methods.
  • The method showed promise not only for mouse HFSCs but also for human HFSCs from androgenetic alopecia patients, improving cell ratios and suggesting potential applications in hair regeneration therapies.

The article is the last in the series of four that present the results of a study on environmental contaminants in coastal Chukotka, conducted in the context of a multi-disciplinary investigation of Indigenous foodways in the region. The article presents the Recommended Food Daily Intake Limit (RFDIL) guidelines of the locally harvested foods in coastal Chukotka. The guidelines were developed based on the results of the analysis of the legacy persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and metals found in the samples of locally harvested food, which was collected in 2016 in the villages of Enmelen, Nunligran, and Sireniki on the south coast of the Chukchi Peninsula, Russian Arctic.

The objective of this study was to optimise the electroporation conditions for efficient integration of Venus construct in buffalo fetal fibroblasts using Sleeping Beauty (SB) based transposition and to produce Venus expressing transgenic cloned embryos through handmade cloning (HMC) approach. Primary culture of buffalo fetal fibroblast cells was established and subsequently cultured cells were co-transfected with Venus and helper plasmid at different combinations of electroporation condition. In different combinations of voltage, time and plasmid dose, we observed that 300 V, single pulse for 10 ms in 2 mm cuvette and 1.

Metal electrodeposition systems display tree-like structures with extensive ramification and a fractal character. Electrolysis is not a necessary route for the growth of such dendritic metal deposits. We can grow beautiful ramification patterns via a simple redox reaction.
