Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Bushen Huoxue formula (BSHXF) is a Chinese herbal prescription composed of eleven herbs widely used to treat psychological stress-induced premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) in clinical. However, the underlying mechanism is still unclear.
Aim Of The Study: The purpose of this study was to clarify the underlying molecular mechanisms of BSHXF in the treatment of psychological stress-induced POI.
Materials And Methods: The rat model was induced by corticosterone (CORT, 40mg/kg). Drugs were administered to rats once daily for 21 days. The serum E, FSH and AMH levels were examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. Tandem mass tag-based proteomic analysis was used to identify differentially expressed proteins. Western blot was used to verify the results of proteomic.
Results: Our results indicate that BSHXF can improve ovarian disfunction. The levels of serum FSH were signally enhanced in model group compared to control group. As respected, BSHXF treatment for 3 weeks led to the decreased FSH levels than the model group. The concentrations of AMH showed an obvious decrease in the model group and were increased by BSHXF treatment. Moreover, the size and number of follicles in the BSHXF groups were similar to those in the control group. The proteomic screened out that Np4 and Angptl4 were simultaneously enriched by GO and KEGG, thus these two proteins were chosen for further study.
Conclusions: These findings revealed that BSHXF might regulate the expression of Np4 and Angptl4 to improve psychological stress-induced POI.

Long-term effects of social play on neural and behavioral development remain unclear. We investigated whether just 1 h of juvenile social play could rescue the effects of play deprivation on stress-related behavior and markers of neural plasticity. Syrian hamsters were reared from postnatal days 21-43 in three conditions: peer isolation, peer isolation with daily social play sessions (dyadic play), or group-housed with littermates.

Cell-free DNA (cfDNA) is continuously shed by all cells in the body, but the regulation of this process and its physiological functions are still largely unknown. Previous research has demonstrated that both nuclear (cf-nDNA) and mitochondrial (cf-mtDNA) cfDNA levels increase in plasma in response to acute psychosocial and physical stress in males. This study further investigated these findings by testing 31 female participants (16 using oral hormonal contraception and 15 not using oral hormonal contraception), and the results were subsequently compared with those of 16 male participants.

Post-translational modifications of proteins via palmitoylation, a thioester linkage of a 16-carbon fatty acid to a cysteine residue, reversibly increases their affinity for cholesterol-rich lipid rafts in membranes, changing their function. Little is known about how altered palmitoylation affects function at the systemic level and contributes to CNS pathology. However, recent studies suggested a role for the downregulation of palmitoyl acetyltransferase (DHHC) 21 gene expression in the development of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)-like syndrome.

Background: Understanding psychological responses to acute exercise, defined as a single bout of physical exercise, in clinical populations is essential for developing tailored interventions that account for the psychological benefits and challenges of exercise. Given its effectiveness in reducing symptoms in various psychological disorders, exercise should be further explored in Exhaustion Disorder ICD-10-SE: F43.8A (ED), characterized by persistent exhaustion following long-term psychosocial stress.

Background: Acute psychological stress may induce physiological changes predisposing individuals to adverse health outcomes through hemodynamic and vascular effects. We studied the association between the aggregated stress-induced changes in hemodynamic and vascular function tests with adverse cardiovascular outcomes in patients with coronary artery disease, after adjusting for sociodemographic and clinical factors.
Methods And Results: Individuals with stable coronary artery disease from 2 prospective cohort studies were studied.
