Objective: This study investigated copper (Cu) status in relation to abdominal obesity indices and liver function in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This case-control study was carried out on 80 overweight/obese patients with NAFLD and 80 apparently healthy age, sex, and body mass index (BMI)-matched controls. A validated and reliable 168-item semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire was completed for each subject and fasting serum levels of liver aminotransferases, ferritin, Cu and ceruloplasmin were assessed.

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of rumen-protected Met on lactation performance, inflammation, and immune response, and liver glutathione of lactating dairy cows during a subclinical mastitis challenge (SMC). Thirty-two Holstein cows (145 ± 51 DIM) were enrolled in a randomized complete block design. At -21 d relative to the SMC, cows were assigned to dietary treatments, and data were collected before and during the SMC.

Background: Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) is one of the most abundant and important bioactive polyphenolic compounds in green tea. However, despite its potent antioxidant effects, its neuroprotective effects on chronic high altitude (HA)-induced nerve damage have not been reported. The purpose of this study is to use quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) with pathology to dynamically evaluate the status of brain damage and the effect of EGCG.

Background: Iron-deficiency is associated with increased morbidity and mortality in non-communicable diseases. However, iron parameters are rarely assessed in dogs. Here, we aimed to assess and correlate iron parameters in dogs suffering from Canine Atopic Dermatitis (CAD) compared to non-atopic, healthy dogs.
