Biofilms in dental unit waterlines (DUWL) are a potentially significant source of contamination posing a significant health risk as these may come into contact with patients and dental staff during treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the microbiological quality of DUWL water treated by Biofilm-Removing-System (BRS) and Alpron/Bilpron disinfectant solutions for six years in a French university hospital. The microbiological quality of water supplied by 68 dental units-initially shock treated with BRS, then continuously treated by Alpron with sterile water during working days and Bilpron during inactivity period, and combined with purging every morning and after each patient-was assessed biannually during six years for total culturable aerobic bacteria at 22 °C and 36 °C, sp., , and total coliforms. A total of 628 samples were analyzed, 99.8% were compliant with extended microbiological levels, and we never detected pathogen bacteria like sp. and . Only one sample (0.2%) was noncompliant with the level of total culturable aerobic bacteria at 36 °C, which exceeded 140 colony forming units per mL. The protocol implemented in our university hospital gives excellent results and enables control of the microbiological quality of DUWL water in the long term.

The microbiome-gut-testis axis has emerged as a significant area of interest in understanding testicular cancer, particularly testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs), which represent the most common malignancy in young men. The interplay between the gut and testicular microbiomes is hypothesized to influence tumorigenesis and reproductive health, underscoring the complex role of microbial ecosystems in disease pathology. The microbiome-gut-testis axis encompasses complex interactions between the gut microbiome, systemic immune modulation, and the local microenvironment of the testis.

Background: The widespread occurrence of chronic and recurrent dermatophytosis has significantly affected the quality of life for patients in India and beyond. Identifying the causative dermatophytes and understanding their antifungal susceptibility can aid clinicians in tailoring effective antifungal therapies.
Materials And Methods: Patients with chronic and recurrent dermatophytosis were enrolled, and conventional fungal cultures were conducted on skin scrapings.

Achieving upcycling and circularity in the microplastic economy predominantly depends on collecting and sorting plastic waste from the source to the end-user for resource conservation. Microplastics, whether from packaging or non-packaging materials, pose a significant environmental challenge as they are often not prioritized for collection or recycling initiatives. The presence of additives impedes the quality of plastic recyclates and the persistence of microplastics as shredded resultants remain a threat to the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem and its biodiversity.

Nitrogen-fixing microorganisms (NFMs) are important components of soil N sinks and are influenced by multiple environmental factors. We established a random forest model optimized by the distributed delayed particle swarm optimization (RODDPSO) algorithm to analyze the global NFM data. Soil pH, organic carbon (OC), mean annual precipitation (MAP), altitude, and total phosphorus (TP) are factors with contributions greater than 10% to NFMs.

Traditional cereal vinegars are fermented by microorganisms that are spontaneously enriched, leading to uncertainty in regulating the fermentation process and flavor. The objective of this study was to elucidate the impact of the predominant microorganisms, provenly and , on the solid-state fermentation (SSF) and flavor profile of cereal vinegar by several bioaugmentation strategies. The results indicated that the sequential bioaugmentation of predominant microorganisms improved the utilization of raw material and most key flavor compounds.
