AmPO was prepared by a solid-state reaction method, and its crystal structure at room temperature was solved by powder X-ray diffraction combined with Rietveld refinement. The purity of the monazite-like phase was confirmed by spectroscopic (high-resolution solid-state P NMR and Raman) and microscopic (SEM-EDX and TEM) techniques. The thermal and self-irradiation stability have been studied. The compound is stable under argon and air atmosphere at least up to 1773 K. It remains crystalline under self-irradiation for circa two months, with a crystallographic volume swelling of ∼1.5%, and then is amorphizing over a year. However, microcrystals are present in the amorphous material even after a two year period of time. All these characteristics are discussed in relation to the potential application of AmPO as a stable form of Am in radioisotope power sources for space exploration and of behavior of the monazites under irradiation.

Background/aim: The purpose of this study was to examine the hepatic bacterial composition and metabolome characteristics of patients with NAFLD using 16S rDNA sequencing and metabolomics. The results of the study revealed substantial differences in hepatic bacterial composition and metabolites between the NAFLD group and the control group. These differences were used to identify potential biomarkers that could be employed to diagnose NAFLD.

The large amounts of attention directed towards the commercialization of renewable energy systems have motivated extensive research to develop non-precious-metal-based catalysts for promoting the electrochemical production of H and O from water. Here, we report promising technology, , electrochemical water splitting for OER and HER. This work used a simple hydrothermal method to synthesize a novel CoTe-FeC nanocomposite directly on a stainless-steel substrate.

We report the synthesis, structural characterization and magnetic properties of Kcoronene, and demonstrate a computational screening workflow designed to accelerate the discovery of metal intercalated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH), a class of materials of interest following reports of superconductivity, but lacking demonstrated and understood characterised material compositions. Coronene is identified as a suitable PAH candidate from a library of PAHs for potassium intercalation by computational screening of their electronic structure and of the void space in their crystal structures, targeting LUMO similarity to C and the availability of suitable sites to accommodate inserted cations. Convex hull calculations with energies from crystal structure prediction based on ion insertion into the identified void space of coronene suggest that the = 3 composition in K coronene is stable at 0 K, reinforcing the suitability of coronone for experimental investigation.

Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an autoimmune self-limiting disorder characterized by a decreased platelet count. Usually, it affects children after viral infections. Adults often develop chronic ITP, but they can also develop ITP following viral infections, which is uncommon.

Hamman syndrome, or spontaneous pneumomediastinum, is a rare condition characterized by the presence of free air in the mediastinum, often triggered by increased intrathoracic pressure from vomiting, coughing, or intense physical exertion. Its association with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is extremely uncommon. We report a case of an 18-year-old male with poorly controlled type 1 diabetes who developed DKA complicated by pneumomediastinum, subcutaneous emphysema, and a small pneumothorax.
