The environmental concentration of tetrabromobisphenol A bis(2-hydroxyethyl) ether (TBBPA-DHEE) and tetrabromobisphenol A mono(hydroxyethyl) ether (TBBPA-MHEE), as some of the main derivatives and byproducts of tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA), are obscure due to lacking available analytical methods. In the present study, a multiplexed competitive chemiluminescent imaging immunoassay (CLIIA) based on specific monoclonal antibody respectively against TBBPA-MHEE and TBBPA-DHEE has been developed for the simultaneous detection of the two targets. To improve the sensitivity of immunoassay, Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) were utilized as solid support for loading horseradish peroxidase, labeled to obtain the multi-enzyme particles. Under the optimized conditions, the limits of detection (LODs) for TBBPA-MHEE and TBBPA-DHEE were 1.85 ng/mL and 2.05 ng/mL, respectively. After estimating its accuracy and precision, the established method was applied for investigation of the contaminants at the inner rivers in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province. Our results indicated that no TBBPA-MHEE was found in all 11 water samples and two samples of TBBPA-DHEE were detected up to 6.34 ng/mL, possibly ascribed to the dense population and slow flow rate around the sampling site. A previously healthy, 28-year-old man presented with a two-day history of diarrhea and chest pain, suggestive of infectious myocarditis. Initial workup revealed elevated troponin-I levels and diffuse ST-segment elevations on electrocardiogram (ECG). Transthoracic echocardiography showed a reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (40-45%), posteroinferior wall akinesis, and a small pericardial effusion.

Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) is nowadays a powerful technique widely used in biosensing and imaging, offering high sensitivity and specificity for detecting and mapping biomolecules. Screen-printed electrodes (SPEs) offer a versatile and cost-effective platform for ECL applications due to their ease of fabrication, disposability, and suitability for large-scale production. This research introduces a novel method for improving the ECL characteristics of screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCEs) through the application of CO laser treatment following fabrication.

Translational Neuroimaging Laboratory, The McGill University Research Centre for Studies in Aging, McConnell Brain Imaging Centre, Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Background And Objectives: To compare the diagnostic performance of an immunoassay for plasma concentrations of phosphorylated tau (p-tau) 217 with visual assessments of fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose [F]FDG-PET in individuals who meet appropriate use criteria for Alzheimer dementia (AD) biomarker assessments.

Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of individuals with early-onset (age <65 years at onset) and/or atypical dementia (features other than memory at onset), who were evaluated at a tertiary care memory clinic. All participants underwent measurements of CSF biomarkers (Aβ42, p-tau181, and total tau levels), as well as [F]FDG-PET scans, amyloid-PET scans, and plasma p-tau217 quantifications.

A manganese porphyrin wrapped DNA dendrimer (Mn-DD) was developed through enzyme-free DNA self-assembly and simple and mild groove binding of porphyrin. The Mn-DD not only possessed plenty of manganese porphyrin to amplify the chemiluminescence (CL) signal, but also can be modified with diverse groups via DNA hybridization. Combined with an immunosensor array, Mn-DD can be utilized for CL immunoassay of multiple mycotoxins as a universal tag.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) along with Procalcitonin (PCT) levels in distinguishing Tuberculous Lymph Nodes (TLN) from Metastatic Lymph Nodes (MLN) in 207 patients.
  • Results showed significant differences in imaging patterns, with TLN exhibiting specific enhancements that were less common in MLN, and higher PCT levels indicating a higher risk for MLN.
  • The combination of CEUS and PCT provided a more accurate predictive model for diagnosing MLN, demonstrating good calibration and diagnostic performance.
