Background: Astaxanthin (ASX), a fat-soluble carotenoid mainly sourced from Haematococcus pluvialis, shows promise for clinical applications in chronic inflammatory diseases. This study investigates whether ASX can mitigate atherosclerosis (AS) by modulating macrophage ferroptosis and provides astaxanthin-loaded polylactic acid-glycolic acid nanoparticles (ASX-PLGA NPs) as comparison.

Method: ApoE-/- mice were fed a high-fat diet with ASX or statin intervention.

Introduction: Chronic low back pain (CLBP), or low back pain lasting greater than 12 weeks, is a prevalent condition that profoundly impacts the quality of life in affected individuals. Traditional treatments - such as physical therapy, medications, injections, minimally invasive procedures, and surgery - often prove ineffective in a considerable number of cases, particularly when utilized as singular modalities. Given the complex biopsychosocial nature of CLBP, a multi-modality approach tailored to each patients' unique needs is essential.

Purpose: The prognostic significance of concomitant statin use in cancer treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) remains a subject of ongoing investigation. This study aims to clarify the prognostic value of statin use in this patient population and to provide a robust, evidence-based foundation to guide therapeutic decisions.

Methods: A systematic search strategy was used across a multitude of digital archives to exhaustively identify all relevant academic literature published up until June 20, 2024.

Introduction: The progression of diabetes status in post-stroke patients remains under-investigated, particularly regarding new treatments for type II diabetes mellitus (DM II), like glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1-RA) and sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors, which have not been studied in the post-stroke setting.

Patients And Methods: Eight hundred eighty-four consecutive ischemic stroke patients recruited to our prospective STROKE-CARD Registry were assessed concerning their glycemic status at baseline (normoglycemia, prediabetes, DM II) and change over time within 1 year follow-up. Multivariate logistic regression was performed to identify factors associated with transitioning from normoglycemia to prediabetes or DM II.
