Hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis with polyneuropathy (ATTRv-PN) is a neurodegenerative disease caused by mutations in the gene encoding transthyretin (TTR). Despite amyloid deposition being pathognomonic for diagnosis, this pathology in nervous tissues cannot fully account for nerve degeneration, implying additional pathophysiology for neurodegeneration, which, however, has not yet been fully elucidated. Context: The study of the influence of solvent on 1-bromo adamantane (BAD) exposes prominent solvatochromatic shifts in the optical absorbance and substantial solvent effects on the electronic structure. This facilitates the molecular probe abilities for the BAD with respect to the surrounding environments such as dielectric constant and polarity. BAD exhibits positive solvatochromism for nonpolar solvents and negative solvatochromatic shifts for polar and aromatic solvents.

We present the first documented case of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAIV) subtype H5N5 in an Atlantic walrus (). The animal was found dead in Svalbard, Norway, in 2023. Sequence analysis revealed the highest genetic similarity with virus isolates from different avian hosts.

Photostimulus-responsive fluorescent materials are promising for anticounterfeiting and UV printing due to rapid response and simple preparation. In this paper, we propose a novel strategy to prepare photostimulus-responsive materials SP@HOF-olefin by integrating the photochromic molecule spiropyran (SP) with postsynthetic modified hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOF-olefin). Compared to SP@HOF, the composites SP@HOF-olefin exhibit enhanced photochromic properties, such as a fast response speed, pronounced color contrast, and exceptional fatigue resistance.

This article shows the results of research conducted on the corrosion resistance of the FeAl (Fe40Al5Cr0.2TiB) alloy in two variants: the alloy after casting and after homogenization annealing (1000 °C, 93 h). Analysis of the microstructure of these alloys was conducted on the light microscope, and the phase composition was determined by X-ray diffraction.
