In recent years, 3D design and printing technology has been successfully used in maxillofacial bone reconstruction procedures. We had the opportunity to observe its benefits in the manufacture of custom facial implants. The production is so precise that perfect anatomical congruence and biocompatibility are possible. Within the plastic and maxillofacial surgery department of the University Hospital of Liège, we had the opportunity to perform two operations requiring facial skeleton redefinition implants. The purpose of this article is to highlight the current possibilities of facial prostheses via new 3D techno¬logies, but also the advantages and possible complications of this type of surgery.

Aims: Human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs) exhibit an enormous potential to regenerate periodontal tissue. However, their translatability to the clinical setting is constrained by technical difficulties in standardizing culture conditions. The aim was to assess complex culture conditions using a proteomic-based protocol to standardize multi-layer hPDLSC cultivation methodology.

Many scholars have studied the relationship between obesity and periodontitis. The relationship between different obesity indicators and periodontitis seems to vary. In this study, we would like to explore the relationship between three commonly used obesity indicators, WWI (weight-adjusted-waist index), BMI (body mass index), WtHR (waist-to-height ratio), and periodontitis, and try to find the most clinically valuable indicators.

Background: Cervical lymph node metastasis (LNM) is a well-established poor prognosticator of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), in which occult metastasis is a subtype that makes prediction challenging. Here, we developed and validated a deep learning (DL) model using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the identification of LNM in OSCC patients.
Methods: This retrospective diagnostic study developed a three-stage DL model by 45,664 preoperative MRI images from 723 patients in 10 Chinese hospitals between January 2015 and October 2020.

Microtubule assembly takes place at the centrosome and noncentrosomal microtubule-organizing centers (MTOCs). However, the mechanisms controlling the activity of noncentrosomal MTOCs are poorly understood. Here, using the fission yeast as a model organism, we demonstrate that the kinesin-14 motor Klp2 interacts with the J-domain Hsp70/Ssa1 cochaperone Rsp1, an inhibitory factor of microtubule assembly, and that Klp2 is required for the proper localization of Rsp1 to microtubules.

Background: Transferrin receptor (TFRC) uptakes iron-loaded transferrin (TF) to acquire iron and regulates tumor development. Nonetheless, the clinical values and the precise functions of TF-TFRC axis in the development of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) were still undiscovered, especially the impacts of their regional heterogeneous expression.
Methods: Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was used to analyze the expression of TFRC in 106 OSCC patients.
