Silica nanoparticles (SNPs) doped by hexanuclear molybdenum cluster complexes [{MoX}L] (X = Cl, Br, or I; L = various inorganic or organic ligands) have been recently suggested as materials with high potential for biomedical applications due to both their outstanding photoluminescence properties and their ability to efficiently generate singlet oxygen upon photoirradiation. However, no studies were undertaken so far to prove this concept. Therefore, here we examined the potential of photoluminescent SNPs doped by {MoI} for applications such as bioimaging and photodynamic therapy using the human epidermoid larynx carcinoma (Hep-2) cell line as a model. Our results demonstrated both: (i) significant luminescence from cells with internalised molybdenum cluster-doped SNPs combined with the low cytotoxicity of particles in the darkness and (ii) significant cytotoxicity of the particles upon photoirradiation. Thus, this research provides strong experimental evidence for high potential of molybdenum-cluster-doped materials in biomedical applications such as optical bioimaging, biolabeling and photodynamic therapy.

Introduction: Conventional pesticide formulations have been widely used to boost agricultural productivity, but their weak foliar adhesion and instability under UV light during spraying lead to low utilization rates and potential environmental and health hazards. To counter these challenges, the development of nanoformulations represents a pivotal strategy. These advanced formulations are designed to enhance the efficacy of active ingredients (AIs) and reduce ecological impacts, thereby addressing the need for sustainable agricultural development.

Nanoscale aggregates play a key role in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. However, quantifying these aggregates in complex biological samples, such as biofluids and postmortem brain tissue, has been challenging due to their low concentration and small size, necessitating the development of methods with high sensitivity and specificity. Here, we have developed ultrasensitive assays utilizing the Quanterix Simoa platform to detect α-synuclein, β-amyloid and tau aggregates, including those with common posttranslational modifications such as truncation of α-synuclein and AT8 phosphorylation of tau aggregates.

In chemical-enhanced oil recovery (cEOR), surfactants are widely used but face significant stability challenges in high-salinity brine, where they often degrade or precipitate. Existing methods, such as adding cosurfactants, offer limited compatibility with anionic surfactants and raise economic concerns, creating a need for more robust solutions. This study introduces a novel approach to enhance the stability of anionic surfactants in extreme salinity conditions by incorporating silicon dioxide (SiO) nanoparticles (NPs).

Statement Of The Problem: Dentin bonding with etch-and-rinse adhesives involves demineralizing the 5-8µm of the surface dentin to create micro space for resin infiltration. The presence of continuous fluid movement in dentin tubules and positive pulpal pressure prevents complete water replacement by resin monomers. This results in areas of demineralized dentin, which contain collagen fibers without resin infiltration.

Objectives: To identify and map the literature on the current state of pH-triggered strategies for resin-based materials used in direct restorative dentistry, focusing on innovative compounds, their incorporation and evaluation methods, and the main outcomes.
Data And Sources: Through a search across PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, LILACS, Cochrane Library databases, and Google Scholar, this review identified studies pertinent to pH-responsive dental materials, excluding resin-modified glass ionomer cements.
Study Selection: From the 981 records identified, 19 in vitro studies were included, concentrating on resin-based composite resins (50%), dentin adhesives (25%), and sealants (25%).
