In this study we developed simple reactions that combined microwave plasma reactions in the presence of maleic anhydride with alkyne click chemistries to achieve a platform for unlimited possibilities for further surface modifications of aliphatic polymer surfaces. Using this approach, we covalently attached ampicillin (AMP) to polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) substrates. As a result, high efficacy against microbial film formation, manifested by efficient antimicrobial activity against S. aureus with a 97-99.8% decrease of bacterial growth, was achieved. This simple and clean process allows functionalization of any polymeric substrate without adverse effects on bulk polymer properties.

For the first time, a TiCT-MXene and poly (3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly (styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT: PSS) composite-modified electrode has been developed for electrochemical detection of the bilirubin (BR) by molecularly imprinted ortho-phenylenediamine (o-PD). BR is a biomarker for liver-related diseases. High levels of BR imply liver dysfunction; hence, its exact and rapid measurement is indispensable to its immediate diagnosis and treatment.

SORL1 (SORLA, LR11) is a large (2214 residue), multi-domain type 1 integral membrane protein that is the product of the SORL1 gene. In neurons, where it is highly expressed, SORL1 functions as both a substrate of and a cargo receptor for the retromer multi protein complex that is a master regulator of protein trafficking out of the early endosome. The SORL1-Vps26b retromer, in particular, is dedicated to the recycling of cell surface proteins, including APP and AMPA receptor subunit GLUA1, back to the plasma membrane.

The nanoengager strategy, which enhances receptor signaling responsiveness through a multivalent ligand binding mode, offers a promising approach for improving immune cell redirecting therapy. Increasing nanomaterial platforms have been developed for constructing more flexible and multifunctional nanoengagers, but the different mediating mechanisms from their multivalent nanostructures, compared to original monomolecule engagers, have rarely been discussed. Here, we constructed dual-specificity T cell nanoengagers (TNEs) targeting CD3 and PDL1 receptors based on a polyethylene glycol--polylactic acid (PEG--PLA)-assembled nanoparticle and specifically studied the impact of surface antibody valences on their functional mechanisms, thereby enhancing the structural advantages of TNEs against solid tumors.
