Frequency-stabilized optical frequency combs have created many high-precision applications. Accurate timing, ultralow phase noise, and narrow linewidth are prerequisites for achieving the ultimate performance of comb-based systems. Ultrastable cavity-based comb-noise stabilization methods have enabled sub-10-level frequency instability. However, these methods are complex and alignment sensitive, and their use has been mostly confined to advanced metrology laboratories. Here, we have established a simple, compact, alignment-free, and potentially low-cost all-fiber photonics-based stabilization method for generating multiple ultrastable combs. The achieved performance includes 1-femtosecond timing jitter, few times 10-level frequency instability, and <5-hertz linewidth, rivalling those of cavity-stabilized combs. This method features flexibility in configuration: As a representative example, two combs were stabilized with 180-hertz repetition rate difference and ~1-hertz relative linewidth and could be used as an ultrastable, octave-spanning dual-comb spectroscopy source. The demonstrated method constitutes a mechanically robust and reconfigurable tool for generating multiple ultrastable combs suitable for field applications.

Quantum dot (QD) color conversion films (CCFs) hold significant promise for advancing display technologies with their superior color performance and efficiency. However, achieving long-term stability in QD-CCFs without additional air-barrier film coatings remains a challenge. Here, we develop a surface passivation strategy using zinc phenylbutyrate (Zn(PA)) to modify QDs through a trioctylphosphine-mediated surface reaction, which results in the selective capping of surface sulfur atoms by zinc-monophenylbutyrate.

Herein, a core/shell LNSP (lamellar nanosheet-nanoplate) of nickel oxy carbide (Ni-O-C/LNSP) has been synthesized by a solvent-devoid combustion process, which exhibits exceptional oxygen evolution efficiency (OER) performance with an overpotential of 311 mV, a Tafel slope of 116 mV dec, and stability over 8 h with 2.8% potential loss owing to more exposed active sites and high conductivity with the interface effect. The activation energy of 28 kJ/mol was calculated for electrolysis using Ni-O-C/LNSP.

Using the optical comb as a transfer oscillator is an effective approach to convert the spectral properties of ultrastable lasers to other wavelength domains. We describe a digital locking system that enables this process to be replicated for several lasers at a time, supporting the simultaneous and independent lock of up to 6 lasers to a single, high performance reference oscillator. The locks are robust, easily reconfigured and contribute a short-term instability lower than 3 × 10 at 1 s, even when the comb is operated in the broad-linewidth regime and with no need for pre-stabilization of slave lasers.

The unique adhesion capabilities of soft-bodied creatures such as leeches and octopuses have provided considerable inspiration for the development of artificial adhesive materials. However, previous studies have either focused on the design of sucker structures or concentrated on the synthesis of adhesive materials, with the combination of these two aspects not yet having been deeply investigated. In this study, inspired from leech's unique adsorption ability, a biomimetic approach is proposed that combined artificial sucker and mucus, to achieve remarkable adhesion stability on rough surfaces using 5 cm diameter silicone suction cups.

Sulfur hexafluoride (SF), widely used in electric power systems, is one of the most potent greenhouse gases. Efficient separation of SF/N by adsorptive separation technology based on porous materials is of great significance in the industry yet remains a daunting challenge. Herein, a novel strategy is introduced to construct unique pore channels with multiple SF nano-traps by precisely selecting bipyrazole ligands to design the nonpolar surface of microporous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which significantly enhances the material's affinity for SF.
