Raynaud's phenomenon (RP) is characterized by episodic vasospasm of the small blood vessels, primarily affecting the fingers and toes. Management includes lifestyle modifications, pharmacological treatments, and in severe cases, surgical interventions. Here we report a case of an 80-year-old male patient with a history of hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity, and atrial fibrillation who presented to the emergency department with edema, cyanosis, and intense pain in the fingers of both hands following a mild COVID-19 infection (no dyspnea or hypoxemia).

Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is a rare but life-threatening soft tissue infection, often accompanied by severe systemic toxicity. Early detection and prompt treatment are critical for survival. Since their introduction by Mennen and Wiese in 1993, semi-occlusive film dressings (SOFD) have been increasingly used in various clinical contexts, including the treatment of Allen type IV fingertip injuries, fingertip necrosis, and cases involving embedded foreign material.This study aimed to investigate whether and, if so, how the outcomes of Allen type III and IV fingertip injuries and fingertip necrosis differ from those of Allen types I and II. In addition, it aimed to investigate if the presence of embedded foreign material under a film dressing increases the risk of complications.

ZFAND6 is a zinc finger protein that interacts with TNF receptor-associated factor 2 (TRAF2) and polyubiquitin chains and has been linked to tumor necrosis factor (TNF) signaling. Here, we report a previously undescribed function of ZFAND6 in maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis by promoting mitophagy. Deletion of ZFAND6 in bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) upregulates reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the accumulation of damaged mitochondria due to impaired mitophagy.

The study aimed to investigate the factors associated with early necrosis of the finger after reimplantation of broken fingers. Sixty-seven cases of reimplantation of severed fingers in our hospital between January 2023 and December 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent reimplantation of severed fingers and were divided into early necrosis group and non-necrosis group according to the presence or absence of early necrosis of the finger body 7 days after surgery.
