Adrenocortical carcinomas are devastating cancers, expressing high levels of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4). Therefore, it was recently suggested that these tumors might be therapeutically targeted by inducing ferroptosis. In this issue of , Weigand et al. describe the organ-specific production of steroid hormones as a potential culprit for the exquisite sensitivity of these cancers to ferroptosis.
