A 56-year-old male phakic patient with diabetic retinopathy received an intravitreal injection (Bevacizumab as per the patient) for neovascular glaucoma elsewhere and presented to our center one day after the dose with hypopyon. Post-operative endophthalmitis is a vision threatening complication following intraocular surgery requiring prompt treatment. Clinical picture mimicking infectious endophthalmitis can rarely be produced following intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide injection. A 65-year-old male with previous history of pars plana vitrectomy and lens removal was diagnosed with post-operative cystoid macular edema in his right eye.

The risk of toxicity of the product and its vehicle is quite real and is still at the center of investigations. Complications related to the substance and the technique of injections are already well-known (intraocular pressure rise, cataract, endophthalmitis, pseudo-endophthalmitis, vitreous haemorrhage and retinal detachment).
