AI Article Synopsis

  • The study focuses on the creation and analysis of iridium(III) catalysts featuring an amide-pendant cyclopentadienyl ligand ([Cp IrI ]).
  • These catalysts were developed from a specific ligand precursor and showed efficient performance in facilitating a reaction that combines benzamides with alkynes through fourfold C-H activation.
  • The results indicated that the [Cp IrI ] catalysts achieved good to high yields in this complex reaction, highlighting their effectiveness.

Article Abstract

The synthesis, characterization, and catalytic performance of iridium(III) catalysts that bear an amide-pendant cyclopentadienyl ligand ([Cp IrI ] ) is reported. These [Cp IrI ] catalysts were obtained from the complexation of a Cp ligand precursor with [Ir(cod)OAc] followed by oxidation. Double aromatic homologation reactions of benzamides with alkynes by fourfold C-H activation proceeded in good to high yield with these [Cp IrI ] catalysts, demonstrating their superior catalytic performance in this challenging transformation.
