Objective: The objective of this study was to determine orthodontists', periodontists', and laypersons' perception of smile esthetics, regarding the presence of different levels of gingival recession on the maxillary left canine.
Material And Methods: Two close-up smile images (frontal and oblique) of a white female were selected for this study. The images were digitally altered to create different levels of gingival recession on maxillary left canine, in 0.5-mm increments. They were randomly arranged into a photo album that was shown to 135 evaluators: 45 orthodontists, 45 periodontists, and 45 laypersons. Each evaluator was asked to rate the smile attractiveness, using to a visual analog scale. Data were analyzed statistically using ANOVA, Tukey's post-hoc test, and Student t-test.
Results: According to the orthodontists and periodontists, all levels of recession were considered as unesthetic in both types of images. According to the laypersons, gingival recession > 1.5 mm in the frontal image and > 1.0 mm in the oblique image were considered unesthetic.
Conclusion: The results showed that the presence of unilateral gingival recession on maxillary canines may negatively influence smile attractiveness, depending on the evaluator type and the level of the recession.

Background: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the efficacy of autologous platelet concentrate (APCs) in comparison with coronally-advanced flap alone or in combination with connective tissue graft or other biomaterials or bioactive agents for root coverage (RC) of Miller's Class I and II gingival recession defects by measuring the keratinized mucosa width (KMW).
Materials And Methods: This systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted in accordance with the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis guidelines. An electronic search of the literature was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, Cochrane, Web of Science, Magiran, Scientific Information Database, and Irandoc for randomized clinical trials (RCTs) that used APCs for RC in their intervention group.

Gingival recession (GR) has a multifactorial etiology, resulting from the interaction of various factors. It affects aesthetics and comfort, and has negative consequences for quality of life. The main objective of this study is to investigate the prevalence of gingival recession in a sample of the population in northern Portugal, according to the classification system proposed by Cairo.

Introduction: Interproximal attachment has received much attention in modern periodontology because it is a key diagnostic and prognostic factor. Currently, we can find many articles with results of bare root coverage, but few data and studies that describe root closure and obtaining interproximal attachment at the same time.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to introduce a double-layer tunnel surgical technique for gingival papilla reconstruction and regeneration of the supraalveolar interproximal attachment.

Background: Although postoperative pain after mucogingival surgery can modify the patient's daily life, few studies have compared daily postoperative pain in mucogingival surgery considering patient characteristics. The aim of this study was to evaluate postoperative pain in 24 patients with Miller class III/RT2 multiple recessions treated with the modified VISTA (m-VISTA) versus the coronally advanced flap (CAF) with a connective tissue graft (CTG).
Material And Methods: Data related to pain intensity (PI), pain duration (PD), analgesic drug intake (AI), and time of analgesic need (TAN) were collected in the "UPV/EHU pain diary".

Statement Of Problem: Esthetic dental features, especially the maxillary anterior teeth, significantly influence perceived attractiveness. Gingival recessions can negatively affect smile esthetics, particularly when asymmetrical.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the perception of dentists and non-professionals regarding subtle variations in the apically displaced soft tissue surrounding a lateral or central incisor.
