Owing to their significant physiological functions, especially as selective relays for translocation of physiological relevant species through cellular membranes, natural ion channels play important role in the living organisms. During the last decades, the field of self-assembled ion channels has been continuously developed. Convergent multidimensional self-assembly strategies have been used for the synthesis of unimolecular channels or non-covalent self-organized channels, designed to mimic natural ion channel proteins and for which a rich array of interconverting or adaptive channel conductance states can be observed. In this review, we give an overview on the development of various self-assembled artificial channels in a bottom-up approach, especially their design, self-assembly behaviour, transport activity in lipid bilayer membranes, mechanism of transport and comparison with natural ion channels. Finally, we discuss their applications, the potential challenges facing in this field as well as future development and perspectives.

This article studies the synthesis, as well as the structural, vibrational, and optical properties of Eu-doped ZnO quantum dots (QDs) and investigates the energy transfer mechanism from the ZnO host to Eu ions using Reisfeld's approximation. Eu-doped ZnO QDs at varying concentrations (0-7%) were successfully prepared using a wet chemical method. The successful doping of Eu ions into the ZnO host lattice, as well as the composition and valence states of the elements present in the sample, were confirmed through X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses.

Although heterogeneous Fenton-like processes have attracted widespread attention in wastewater treatment, the mass leached active ions lead to secondary pollution and confuse the demarcation of reaction region. By constructing a constrained completely heterogeneous system and highlighting its reaction region concentrated within the slipping plane of particles, this work achieves efficient organic pollutants degradation without leaching of any free active metal components. Based on the Poisson-Boltzmann equation and electric double layer model, the specific existing of the constrained region is confirmed, and this neglected reaction region between solid interface and slipping plane in traditional heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction is clarified firstly.

A magnetoelectrically coupled memristor utilizing electron spin and electric field-induced ion migration can facilitate their operation, uncover new phenomena, and expand applications.
