Ionic conductors serve as solid electrolytes for fuel cells and batteries, whereas polar crystals such as ferroelectrics and pyroelectrics-which are typically insulating materials-are used in electronic devices. Here we show a material that combines superionic conductivity with a polar crystal structure at room temperature. This three-dimensional anionic network is based on -Fe-N≡C-Mo- units, with Cs cations hosted in every other pore. In the resulting CsFe[Mo(CN)(NO)]·4HO material, the negative and positive charges of the framework and Cs ions, respectively, are non-symmetrically shifted in the c-axis direction of the unit cell, and spontaneous electric polarization is generated, in turn leading to second harmonic generation (SHG). Additionally, this material is a superionic conductor (with an ionic conductivity value of 4 × 10 S cm at 318 K). Furthermore, the ionic conductivity significantly decreases under 532 nm light irradiation (from 1 × 10 S cm to 6 × 10 S cm at room temperature) and, when irradiation stops, returns to its original value within ~1 h.

In this work, a theoretical approach is developed to investigate the structural properties of ionic microgels induced by a circularly polarized (CP) electric field. Following a similar study on chain formation in the presence of linearly polarized fields [T. Colla , , 2018, , 4321-4337], we propose an effective potential between microgels which incorporates the field-induced interactions a static, time averaged polarizing charge at the particle surface.

Anisotropy is a fundamental property of both material and photonic systems. The interplay between material and photonic anisotropies, however, has hardly been explored due to the vastly different length scales. Here we demonstrate exciton polaritons in a 2D antiferromagnet, CrSBr, coupled with an anisotropic photonic crystal cavity, where the spin, atomic, and photonic anisotropies are strongly correlated.

Electric-field-induced shape memory effect has potential applications in electromechanical actuator. Here, this study proposes the a phase structure design routine in (1-x)(75NaBiTiO-25SrTiO)-xPbTiO ceramics to obtain large electromechanical response and shape memory effect. It is found that the shape memory effect is closely related to the bending deformation induced by asymmetric polarization between positive and negative electrodes, which is resulted from the reductions of Bi and Pb because of electron injection from negative electrode.

The corrugated <110> oriented layered metal halide perovskites (MHP) are gaining increased attention for a variety of properties including intrinsic white light emission. One prototypical candidate is 1-(3-aminopropyl)imidazole lead bromide, which was reported to crystallize as the <110> oriented perovskite (API)PbBr [API = 1-(3-aminopropyl)imidazole]. This work shows that under similar reaction conditions, the same components can instead form (API)PbBr, which has a "perovskitoid" structure.

Fluoropolymer alone, as an alternative to lead-based piezoelectric materials, has shown multiple challenges to develop useful sensors for solving real-world problems such as photoacoustic, ultrasound pulse echo, and other non-destructive testing. This work demonstrates the fabrication of high frequency and wide bandwidth transducers with fluoropolymer and highly polarizing cubic single crystal Barium titanate (BaTiO) ceramic composite for high resolution in-vivo photo-acoustic and ultrasound imaging. For transducer fabrication, a customized bio-compatible nanocomposite sensor film of PVDF-TrFE (Polyvinylidene fluoride trifluoroethylene)/BaTiO (BTO) is synthesized by drop and dry in heating-cum-electro-poling system for advancing polarization, crystallinity, and higher charge generation.
