Phytoestrogens, with a wide range of beneficial effects, prevent bone loss caused by oestrogen deficiency. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of ethanol extract compared to 17β-oestradiol on osteoporosis in ovariectomized mice. The study was carried out on female mice, divided into five groups: control mice (GI), treated mice (0.75 g/kg BW/day) (GII), ovariectomized mice (GIII) and ovariectomized mice treated either with (GIV) or with 17β-oestradiol (50 µg/Kg BW/day) (GV).Our results showed that or 17β-oestradiol treatments significantly attenuated perturbations of mineral levels, histological changes and oxidative stress in the femurs of ovariectomized mice. prevented bone loss induced by oestrogen deficiency, which could be attributed to its richness in kaempferol, syringic acid, naringenin and myrictin. Its effects were more beneficial or similar compared to 17β-oestradiol.

Background: Integrins are essential mediators of numerous critical cellular processes. Increasing evidence indicates that aberrant function of αVβ1 integrins contributes to the onset and progression of tauopathy. Previously, our group showed that the neuroprotective exercise hormone irisin-a known αVβ integrin modulator, prevented age-related increases in phosphorylated tau and inflammation in hippocampus of presymptomatic-age female but not male htau tauopathy-model mice (Bretland et al.

Article Synopsis
  • Postmenopausal females with the APOE4 allele are at a higher risk for late-onset Alzheimer's Disease, and estrogen deficiency may contribute to cognitive and metabolic issues.
  • The study investigated how APOE genotype and estrogen status affect mitochondrial function in cerebral vessels of female mice after ovariectomy.
  • Results showed that APOE genotype impacts mitochondrial respiration, with APOE3 mice exhibiting better cerebrovascular function compared to APOE4 mice, particularly when supplemented with estradiol.

While hypothalamic kisspeptin (KP) neurons play well-established roles in the estrogen-dependent regulation of reproduction, little is known about extrahypothalamic KP-producing (KP) neurons of the lateral septum. As established previously, expression in this region is low and regulated by estrogen receptor- and GABA receptor-dependent mechanisms. Our present experiments on knock-in mice revealed that transgene expression in the LS begins at P33-36 in females and P40-45 in males and is stimulated by estrogen receptor signaling.

Uterine leiomyomas are common noncancerous hormonally-dependent neoplasms comprised of uterine smooth-muscle cells and fibroblasts. Despite their significant impact on morbidity, effective non-hormonal medical treatments are lacking. In vitro studies have identified the Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK/STAT) signaling pathway as a promising target in leiomyoma cells.

Objectives: Bone remodeling imbalance contributes to osteoporosis. Though current medications enhance osteoblast involvement in bone formation, the underlying pathways remain unclear. This study was aimed to explore the pathways involved in bone formation by osteoblasts, we investigate the protective role of glycolysis and N6-methyladenosine methylation (m6A) against oxidative stress-induced impairment of osteogenesis in MC3T3-E1 cells.
