A water-soluble host molecule can bind tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ-THC) and its metabolites in aqueous solution. By pairing this recognition event in a sensing array with fluorescent reporters and varying external mediators, pattern recognition-based detection is possible, which allows selective discrimination of the THC metabolites. The selective sensing can be performed in aqueous solution with micromolar sensitivity, as well as in biofluids such as urine and saliva. Metabolites as similar as Δ- and Δ-THC, differing only in the position of a double bond, can be distinguished.

In this study, we explore an enhancement to the U-Net architecture by integrating SK-ResNeXt as the encoder for Land Cover Classification (LCC) tasks using Multispectral Imaging (MSI). SK-ResNeXt introduces cardinality and adaptive kernel sizes, allowing U-Net to better capture multi-scale features and adjust more effectively to variations in spatial resolution, thereby enhancing the model's ability to segment complex land cover types. We evaluate this approach using the Five-Billion-Pixels dataset, composed of 150 large-scale RGB-NIR images and over 5 billion labeled pixels across 24 categories.

The relative contributions of mutation rate variation, selection, and recombination in shaping genomic variation in bacterial populations remain poorly understood. Here we analyze 3318 Yersinia pestis genomes, spanning nearly a century and including 2336 newly sequenced strains, to shed light on the patterns of genetic diversity and variation distribution at the population level. We identify 45 genomic regions ("hot regions", HRs) that, although comprising a minor fraction of the genome, are hotbeds of genetic variation.

Background: Messenger RNA 3' untranslated regions (3'UTRs) control many aspects of gene expression and determine where the transcript will terminate. The polyadenylation signal (PAS) AAUAAA (AATAAA in DNA) is a key regulator of transcript termination and this hexamer, or a similar sequence, is very frequently found within 30 bp of 3'UTR ends. Short interspersed element (SINE) retrotransposons are found throughout genomes in high copy numbers.

In this study, a convenient method was proposed for the synthesis of thymine-capped mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) using strong hydrogen bonding in non-protonic solvent. Furthermore, application of the functionalized MSN for the recognition of mercuric ion (Hg) based on a paper-based platform with smartphone-assisted colorimetric detection was developed. The synthesized materials were characterized by techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), N adsorption-desorption, particle size analysis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).

Borophene, a two-dimensional allotrope of boron, has emerged as a promising material for gas sensing because of its exceptional electronic properties and high surface reactivity. This review comprehensively overviews borophene synthesis methods, properties, and sensing applications. However, it is crucial to acknowledge the substantial gap between the abundance of theoretical literature and the limited experimental studies.
